Next Scotland Manager

Recommended Posts

It’ll be Moyes or Strachan. The SFA checklist = Scottish, unemployed and mindset of boys’ club manager from the 1980s.

If they weren’t such an incompetent fucking mess, then Bilić is the outstanding candidate IMO.

Simple list for choosing candidates for the job:

1. No Scottish managers, unless its Steve Clarke.

2. Someone who is a proven man manager, who can drive a team on to do better than the some of its parts.

It's not rocket science.

I don't hold out much hope, under the inept SFA.

If it's an uninspiring Scottish appointment, I'm done with it and I doubt I will be the only one.

For me, the ideal scenario would be:

1. Has been successful at international level and managed a smaller nation to qualify for the Euros/World Cup.

2. Is willing to manage Scotland for what we’re paying.

3. Will get us to qualify, and won’t just say “what the f**k is this?” and be blaming the lack of decent players after the second bad result. So someone who has done his research before taking on the post.

Failing that, my second scenario would be:

1. Has won things as a manager.

2. Good man management skills.

3. Won’t just start blaming the lack of players after the second bad result.

35 goals in 89 Championship games. At 23 years old.

McNulty 35 in 91. Left aged 21

Griffiths  43 in 94. Left aged 20.

Chris Kane got 19 in 43, at a younger age than Shankland aswell.

Shankland - Goal every 2.5 games

Kane - Goal every 2.2 games

Shankland clearly the great hope of the nation though.

My outsider choice was Hiddink as said before but I was told about his wages at the China u23s job. So when I saw his face on a shortlist of managers on a daily record article I get hyped.....then when I read it they were just randomly throwing names out......I never learn with that damn paper.

Hiddink is 72 years old

Was always surprised how he's ended up in that bin of failed managers. As a player he was decent and an intelligent footballer. Also was really well spoken.

Me too. Back in the noughties he seemed destined for a Mourinho-esque career. Looking at his managerial stats since then it's been a steep slide into shite-mageddon:
