I know for my club, we got funding from East Lothian Council for the floodlights but that did not cover full costs! Also there were additional costs for other work required to get ready for the SFA license visit, for example a first aid room. Additional entry to ground, curing ground with required coverings to prevent Joe public from watching at any vantage points outside ground. Couple this with COVID, or even outwith this pandemic, I doubt a Burgh had any spare monies to concentrate ‘solely on the field’. From whatever angle you are coming from, I think you do a great dis-service to committee, sponsors and fans alike, for teams such as Musselburgh and what funds had to be raised. Its not doing anyone a diservice, it just a fact we have had virtually nothing from midlothian council

Just stating that Auld yin is wrong in his assumption. I know WW got zilch from Midlothian and I made comment about that, and fact that we as a club were v grateful to East Lothian Council. You did get funding in recent times from elsewhere, as that was mentioned on your page and again, I said that was positive!

He is a club legend arguably best player to pull on the jersey this century and fresh faced with experience of the amateur game like ww used to recruit from a long long time ago so hardly the same old name ? Time will tell whether we can get out the relegation zone now, that ship might have sailed but I'm confident of a small turnaround in fortunes than I have been recently. Maybes just the boost everyone needed. Mon the Welfarrrrre !!!

Well that's my take on it all at present. I could be way off the mark here though. AGM Thursday contact the club with email link so can get the zoom for anybody wanting to tune in. Fresh eyes is what's needed not just on but off the park as well and I hope more people will get their names down and have fresh ideas to take the club forward in what is very worrying times. Some good managers about. The Leith Managers must be worth a shout. The Gaffer at Edinburgh United has done well The Heriot Watt manager is highly rated and has heriot watt playing some cracking football Something fresh is always good

Leith are near the top of the league and maybe swapping places wi ww. The Edin Utd manager has already been at ww having previously been the 20s manager and was overlooked for a previous role. The Heriot Watt position is possibly full time maybes tied in wi the Uni. I could obviously be way off the mark by your suggestions but we have a lad in place now. Andrew Kidd played nearly 10 years for the club before moving onto Bonnyrigg Rose. As I posted previous he'll have amateur knowledge to maybes have an eye on one or two of the best amateurs in the area which was what the club used to do long before the EoSFL came along. Despite being at the club as a player for many seasons he hasnt been around the club for a good few years now where there has been big changes since he was last there. I'd say it's a "fresh" appointment which I'm sure many fans will be happy about. Can he work miracles for this season? Time will tell but whether survival or relegation I'm sure the lad has his long term plans to take the club forward. Mon the Welfare!!

HibeeJibee
Lot of new signings announced for you tonight including some Tollcross Thistle players (and Scotland Amateur internationals) on loan until the Lothian Amateur League resumes. That could presumably be whenever Edinburgh follows Midlothian and East Lothian into tier 2... so these reinforcements might prove shorter-term rather than for the whole season.

Didnt realise they were just loans. Have any players left must be some size of a playing squad now? Gonnae be a few disappointed?

I say loans - to be precise Tollcross twitter says "on the proviso X is released when we can start playing again". Amounts to same outcome. They've been churning out players all over the shop - appears Spartans, Vale of Leithen, Tynecastle, Haddington and Dalkeith have also been in receipt. Admirably proactive. I'm assuming McIntosh, McKenna and Stewart, Cunningham, McKenzie and Cairney from Sandys are for the duration. U20s pair also promoted.
