LongTimeLurker
2 hours ago, Talbot supporter said: Why would Talbot need to go into lowland league when the junior league looks just as strong, win the junior league then have the chance to step up to league 2? ...because Ayrshire clubs stopped the so called superduper league from happening because driving through to places like Kelty was apparently too much for them. That was one of the factors that prompted Kelty to move to the EoS and another 25 or so east region clubs to follow them a year later. Anyway having said that hope you have a long and lucrative cup run and show people that the SPFL isn't the be all and end all of Scottish football.
Bring Back Paddy Flannery
Lowland League should be wound up It's an embarrassment, full of glorified boys clubs trying to kid on it's the big timeOr they are a collection of clubs with the ambition of taking their club as far as they can? If Talbot are happy being a big fish in a small pond that's their problem, even if the standard of the Lowland League is pish at least they are giving it a bash.
GordonS
Why would Talbot need to go into lowland league when the junior league looks just as strong, win the junior league then have the chance to step up to league 2?Because the last 10 words are not reality. Junior football remains a dead end.
Blackie Gold
I have every respect for the clubs who are trying to reach the SPLF, but most of the throbbers on here are following clubs who were pish in the Juniors and have followed suit in the EOSL.
Connor7
Would Talbot fans not like a crack in the senior leagues? It wouldn’t take them long to get into league 2
19QOS19
Would Talbot fans not like a crack in the senior leagues? It wouldn’t take them long to get into league 2 Is part of the reason the crowds are good in the Juniors not because they are so close to each other so there is good rivalry? I think if they started losing games they wouldn't be taking big crowds to places like Elgin and Forfar. They are probably financially better off where they are.
cmontheloknow
Nathan Austin's 20 in 10 11 you might imagine was the best return in the pyramid but not so - ex Cumnock and Ayr striker Sean McKenzie my my reckoning has 28 in 11 for hometown team Nithsdale. Another player at a level well below his ability. Edited September 21, 2019 by cmontheloknow
craigkillie
Is part of the reason the crowds are good in the Juniors not because they are so close to each other so there is good rivalry? I think if they started losing games they wouldn't be taking big crowds to places like Elgin and Forfar. They are probably financially better off where they are. Auchinleck are now in a league with Pollok, Clydebank, Rutherglen, Benburb, Kirkintilloch and Rossvale. None of those have a historic rivalry with them, and some are nearly an hour away. Most of the crowd who attend every week go to watch Auchinleck, not their opponents, so they would continue to do so whoever they were playing. How many fans they take to away games in Elgin isn't really that important as long as they get fans to turn out for home games against Elgin.
neilthearab
The thing is Talbot always play a straightforward 4-4-2. Apart from when they don't and bottle up the midfield forcing the opposition to play long. Bit of advice-------Junior teams are good at headers you need to work out how to play through a packed midfield. One of Talbot's strengths is that the players realise they are not good enough for Barcelona so don't try to play like them and they are coached to use the skills they actually have.
