Fully agree with madwullie, and it's also hilarious that this is being framed as some sort of grand charitable gesture from the Tories. Let's be very clear here, IT'S NOT THEIR FUCKING MONEY.

Aside from the fact that the entire economic structure our civilisation is based upon would have imploded had they not stepped in, this is not a case of Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Gove, Sunak et al liquidating their assets or re-mortgaging to give to the poor in a sudden onset of philanthropy, this isn't a Christmas carol with Ebenezer Scrooge, and the funds aren't coming from Conservative Party HQ either, they're using tax payer money to provide what's required to avoid a cataclysmic financial meltdown .

I know Oaksoft is a troll, but there will be people that truly believe that shite. This is not the Tories offering up a socialist olive branch after a decade of obliterating public services, this is them doing exactly what they always do: what's in their best interests. They shouldn't receive any undue praise for it, and it doesn't come an iota close to hiding their horrific mismanagement / criminal negligence of this pandemic.

Every free-market conservative becomes a socialist when the market fails.  It’s a temporary phenomenon.

That may be true but if we go into a severe recession, even a depression, who do you think will suffer most?

Got nothing to do with me addressing the fact Oaksoft is talking shite yet again. You can bet your boots if everyone on the dole was a net benefit to a Tory government that's exactly what they'd do.

Sounds like a bit of wishful thinking from the guy who designed the strategy to me. Not sure where he thinks the herd immunity is going to come from, especially as we don't yet know if immunity is a thing.

Agree that immunity is not certain but the numbers don't stack up too ridiculously, it would depend on who they're testing as to how far off ridiculous they are.

They have mayonnaise with their chips. If people aren’t interested in keeping a close eye on them then it’s an international dereliction of duty.

I had mayonnaise with chips for dinner last night. What's your problem?

Ok I’ll bite. Much of the strategy to this is devolved; we all just happen to be on the same page.

What should Nicola be doing differently and should she similarly charged with ‘horrific mismanagement and criminal negligence’?

I don't want to white knight oaksoft, but that's a hell of a strawman you are attacking

Waiting to get in big tesco, folk coughing up their lungs, couples practically shagging in the queues, folk standing close together discussing their family who work in ICU, I hate people. I won't be back for another fortnight

Had a neighbour across from me letting their teenager out drinking most nights since lockdown. Currently I’m working in my bedroom and can here really loud coughing. Look out the window and the teenagers sitting in their garden coughing everywhere.

Good shout auld yin, open the pubs for this weekend only also.

I could do my job as a football secretary on Saturday, go to the pub at night, maybe travel up North on Sunday then go back to work Monday.

Weekend sorted.

Drop into Dundee on the way past and I’ll buy you a pint let you buy me a pint.

This thread is getting boring.

I suggest we lift the lockdown tomorrow and all just take our chances.

We could restart the football on Saturday.

Brave suggestion from the high risk group

I doubt there will be many complaints on here when I say anyone who spits at another should be continually tazed until they piss themselves then tazed again for good measure.
