Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I see TalkRadio has been booted off YouTube for spreading false Covid information. Having looked at some of the presenters, I'm not surprised.

Folk greeting about it need to give themselves a shake, YouTube is a business it will kick you out if it doesn't like you, it would be like saying you can't drink coffee because the local branch of Starbucks won't serve you because you're a dick. Also whining about censorship whilst quoting an article on the most read news site in the world is hardly a strong place to argue from.

The wife is a biomedical scientist (tests the blood (and sometimes piss and shit)) at the hospital. Her professional body have just cleared them all to administer medicines in the last day or so.

Bowel cancer screening kit arrived in the post today, 6 months over my 2 yearly cycle but good to see things like that still functioning.

At nearly 2m cases a month never mind a race between vaccination and virus, it's more likely that a third runner will creep up on the rails in the shape of herd immunity.

Christmas might not contribute the MOST in terms of number, but in terms of the timing, and the rationale, it's the biggest f**k up yet made. Incredible.

I said this a couple of months ago. The utter shitshow we're going through because the Tories were scared to tell folk not to have a fucking glorified Sunday dinner.

Re herd immunity, vaccines happening and the case loads from earlier in the year and more especially now (confirmed plus inferred per day must be colossal?) Has there been any chat anywhere that iv missed about that. I mean in England especially, the potential chains of transmissions must be shrinking?

Also, North Ireland confirming cases in the over 80s has plummeted too since the first vaccine started.

Let's keep it light lads.

As far as production goes, theres probably a fair element of, they just cant meet colossal expectation. However, as I said before, the wheels of industry take a while to get up to speed but of I were a bookie I would happily take the money of anyone who backed the govt having their act together before AstraZeneca. They will be piling them up on the doorstep soon enough would be my opinion.

Of course you would, as that fits the narrative you’ve been peddling for weeks now (in the face of any evidence provided to you).

You are almost virginton in the entrenched nature of your position.

Are you one of the ones that wont accept any criticism of Scotgov?

No govt has control over big pharma production no matter how much they invest. I very much doubt the pharmaceutical plants trundle along at 5 days per week 9-5. Big issue is AZ, Pfizer and the likes produce thousands of vital medicines at plants worldwide, that has to continue in conjunction with Covid vaccine. The lines its running on will be producing as much as is physically possible I'm sure.

As has been stated on here a few times the UKG announced early December that we were set to receive 10m doses from Pfizer by 31 January. That 10m is now 2m according to Pfizer who also claim that is in line with their contract with the UKG.

There was something on the news today about the big pharma companies running into issues with a worldwide shortage of glass vials.

The problem AZ and Pfizer have is that by the time they've geared up production to meet the colossal current demand, there will be other players approved and in the market place. One of them said, I think Phizer,  that they expected there to be more competition around when they got approval, so they weren't expecting everyone wanting huge volumes from them alone, all at once. The best hope is that other vaccines come on stream asap, and with the exploding infection rates it looks likely that they'll storm through Phase 3.

Looking for a bit of employment advice.

My wife has two two day jobs with the same company, one secretarial and one in their warehouse which is currently furloughed. Both jobs have different hours, different pay scales and different line management.

They have phoned today to say they want to unfurlough her from the warehouse post to do admin work.

Can they do this? She's not wanting to be awkward but at the same time not keen on getting the mickey taken.

With 1 in 50 of all inhabitants estimated to be infected in the last week clearly not but yes at the levels it's at you would think there should be less potential hosts. These numbers surely have to drop significantly quite quickly given we will be 2 weeks beyond Christmas by the end if this week coupled with 2 weeks of school closure and the new measures kicking in.

Presumably they are unforloughing her from the cheaper hourly rate. I would suggest it's immoral for the company but the best place to start would be the local union rep

More than happy to criticise them.

However, if my hot take was gently but repeatedly pointed out as being bollocks, I would listen to the responses and wonder whether I might be wrong.

Sorry if this is a daft question but has she asked her employers why they're choosing to do it this way?
