Elixir
1 hour ago, DMCs said: We need second doses to get to herd immunity as we are seeing a drop in antibodies among older groups: This data is in England and goes up to 3rd April. In those 10 days after we've had a lot of 2nd doses so hopefully anti-body figures are much better. Fading antibodies is natural and will not 'scupper' herd immunity. Other parts of the immune system generate new antibodies when required if challenged by the virus. It is also likely that antibodies falling to below detectable levels will still protect against infection/illness.

mizfit
Had bought concert tickets for a gig last August, that was then postponed to this August. This week it’s now been postponed again to next August.Sadly think any kind of return to anything resembling normality will be next year at the earliest. A sanitised summer similar to last year is about as good as its going to get in 2021.Just had the same for a concert in July. Been told our tickets are still valid until the next one but I think I’m going to go for a refund now. Can’t be arsed waiting another year.

Both added to the increasing list of world leaders encouraging their populations to get vaccinated whilst undermining the programme with their words. The brass neck of them to complain if people start deciding they don't want to get vaccinated because they feel there's no point. I honestly don’t blame those in their 20’s that will decide what is the point in getting the vaccine. Nice to see Johnson backing himself into a corner though and basically having no grounds to push through the domestic vaccine passport nonsense

TheScarf
In a week or so there's the potential for there to be more people in an ICU with Covid, than just on a ward with it.

Lyle Lanley
It is hope that 2,000 people will be aloud to watch fringe shows at the Edinburgh Festival in August outside and 400 people will be aloud to watch shows inside. craigkillie
They are presumably also working through a backlog of procedures that had to be postponed over the last year, which will contribute slightly to that pressure too.
