Selfish people everywhere, it seems. Its not great. On the other hand, people are not used to, and do not want to, live their lives by appointment. I hope that all of the industries affected arent content to run with this detrimental model long term because it it good for neither business nor customer. They like everyone else need to keep the pressure on for full, not "something closer to" normality That's my take on it too. Billy Jean King
Just saw this on Sky...Meanwhile, Israel has dropped its requirement for people to wear masks outdoors following its vaccine success - with people in the UK and other countries no doubt looking on with interest to see if it's a sign of things to come where they live. Why TF would people in the UK be looking at this with interest given there has never been a mandated requirement to wear a mask outside here. This sort of garbage reporting from MSM really needs to be stopped. Also see Hancock is to make a Covid statement at 3.30 today in the HoC, wonder what that's about ?

Not sure what made the business owner think that 1m SD between members of different households wouldn't be a thing when they reopened. It was always going to be the situation at least initially and it's the same as in England. -

Reading the article it suggests than in England tables need to be 1m apart, whereas in Scotland it will apply to people from different households, even at the same table.

In the local paper here 3 (all Turkish / Iranian) have been issued a warning by trading standards for not following regs by allowing customers to queue sitting inside. The businesses have played the race card though which is simply idiotic. One of them was fined for opening during lockdown so would have been watched closely. I'd much rather make an appointment right now than stand 10 deep in a queue outside to be honest

I find it hard to believe any bar or restaurant owner in Scotland thought they would be reopening without SD for people outwith the same household / bubble. Local press and news has been full of articles showing businesses making their premises "covid secure" ahead of reopening. Yes many have been moaning about it but not seen any until that article today who were surprised they needed to.

South of the border people can now visit bars and restaurants outdoors but must either follow the rule of six, or be in a group of any size with no more than two households present. Tables must be socially distanced That doesn't sound like this

Taking into account total outdoor space, specific venue characteristics such as furniture as well as likely pinch points and busy areas.Reconfiguring outdoor seating and tables to maintain social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m+ with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) between groups of customers. This is to ensure that the venue, including areas of congestion does not become overcrowded. Managing entry numbers can be done, for example, through reservation systems, social distancing markings, having customers queue at a safe distance for toilets or bringing payment machines to customers, where possible.
