vikingTON
For a one-off game the atmosphere will be good and people will jump through all the hoops required to be there. The play-off final at Cappielow was similar on a much smaller scale, helped of course by the absolute dicking delivered to the Nazis on that glorious May evening by The Famous. There's a huge gulf between what can work for a one-off match/international tournament and the bread and butter of every other Saturday though. The current protocols would be completely unsustainable by October/November of this year in domestic football.

All that breath from people singing getting let into the air is scary stuff. Better make everyone stay at home.

Sadly I think there will be a lot more cases like that in the coming weeks/months. Everything has been pushed to the side for covid. Seems if it's not covid it doesnt "matter". Poor woman Oh god yes, thats the problem with that messaging, decent folks dont want to ‘overwhelm’ the NHS even with serious conditions and the same mutants who demand double GP appointments because their wee brat has sneezed twice dont get it. Until we start to tell people to f**k off when they go to the doctor unnecessarily and strike the balance with encouraging people to be seen with the right symptoms we’ll never get the NHS sorted. The amount of doctors time wasted with drug seeking and arseholes demanding referrals for nonsense or prescriptions for fucking paracetamol ‘fur the wean’ means they have even less appointments for people who actually need them. The converse to that is when these people get told they dont need to be seen they turn around and go to A&E blocking up the waiting times there only to be told ‘you didnt need to be seen here this is a waste of time’. Ive seen people suggest things like charges for appointments etc but thats also dangerous as the time wasters and facebook maws would get the appointments free anyway or complain to the local paper/msp etc who will take their side and cause grief.

Then cut to a Leitch restricted Hampden Park. Stewards surround anyone who sings "because it might spread Covid". No pies. No beer. Game has the atmosphere of a Wee Free funeral in December. Rest of World watching on: "F*ck me, those Scots are miserable b*****ds" The rules won't be followed, especially if Scotland score and win. That's both at the ground, at the fanzone, and in pubs. There's far, far, too many people involved for them to effectively control it, and I cannot wait for the seethe from Leitch as he attempts to "punish" us all for daring to celebrate and less than a week later the exact same thing happens again.

BigDoddyKane
This Euro tournament and seeing crowds in grounds again should have some impact you think? In more people seeing that events can be held and whatever is happening after them in terms of infections is manageable and vaccines are working

What a dreadful article from some local rag. What that article does is basically list the current restrictions on hospitality venues. 1m distancing, table service, masks unless seated and booked slots. They have then put some wild take that this somehow prevents pubs showing games or hosting a "Euro event" as they are bizarrely calling it. Pubs are showing it, pubs are fully booked, pubs are not cancelling and if Scotland do the business they will be rocking. The media are DESPERATE for this to blow up for some totally crazy twisted reason. It's pathetic !

But then again it wouldn't surprise me that Edinburgh Live have written a piece and conflated what businesses do to maximize profits and what the actual regulations are.
Guest Bob Mahelp
The mood music is not good this morning for those of us who want a normal life back. The Telegraph ....a paper I hate quoting, but one that does have links to the Tory government .....is reporting that if lockdown is not totally lifted within a relatively short window this summer, then it's very likely that we'll be under some kind of restrictions into next spring and beyond. And given that the Scottish government is instinctively more cautious than Westminster, this would seem to spell disaster for anyone desperate for true 'freedom'. At the same time, Europe and the USA...countries not riddled with the delta variant because they don't have leaders desperate for a trade deal with India, and had already banned flights from there at the same time that we were allowing 110 per week to come in.....are removing restrictions and opening up travel. The feeling that this nightmare is never going to end is overwhelming.
mizfit
The media are DESPERATE for this to blow up for some totally crazy twisted reason. It's pathetic !It’s utterly bizarre watching the media jump from a stance of allow pubs to reopen to then go no wait don’t let them make money. Granted, it wouldn’t surprise me if Leitch and Sridhar are both whinging to the media about the fanzones and pubs being open.

As long as people continue to support draconian measures....and every single poll shows that the majority of people do......then this dystopian insanity will continue. The government will just continue to say that everything we do is dangerous, and that we just don't know, and people will continue to meekly accept our lives being changed forever.

No opposition pressure on the clowns either. As if to highlight this Angela Thornberry on Marr right now saying it's almost certain there will be no foreign holiday travel this summer. It wasn't a protest at this her stance was all for the restrictions on travel continuing.

They're so terrified of having fingers pointed at them in a year's time or whatever, they've all decided to take the mental zero-risk approach. It's laughable that the only real opposition to all of this comes from a handful of Tory backbenchers.

Wow, you make really great points straight from the coal face. Very, very difficult. However, on balance, despite all the problems, I do think we should introduce appointment charges. We accept these for things like physio therapy, dental charges, chiropody and more.£25 a go. Let’s try it. People pay a fortune on vet fees!! Enough said. -
