My 18 year old son got vaccinated so he could go out to clubs.

Cheers Nippy.

Never a message I liked.

Surely the ONLY reason people should be getting vaccinated is to safeguard against becoming seriously ill / dying from the virus or indeed the associated fall out such as taking up a hospital bed ?

I wouldn't bet on it, Boris's tactics all along have been testing the water via the media or letting the Scottish / Welsh go first, however he's followed suit on every occasion but for some reason managed to escape most of the flak coming from here.

Wait until the 26th December and see what he does...........

Not recently he hasn't. He binned masks, binned managed quarantine, encouraged a return to offices, didn't roll out vaccine passports etc.

"He's followed suit on every occasion" hasn't been called out on here because, largely, it's not true.

Whilst they appear to be a clown, at least they replied. My local MSP just outright ignored the two emails I’ve sent over the last year. No response at all even to acknowledge it.

Probably because they agree with you, but can't be seen to be.

He certainly reduced the restrictions you mention, however he DID still introduce them as I stated.

So from what I can see, Sturgeon and Drakeford jumped the gun with Omicron restrictions to show everyone that they’re “not like that careless Brexit baddie Boris!!!!”, only for the data to come back and show them that they were completely and utterly wrong to do so?

And now people in Scotland and Wales have to live with the very real, soul-destroying consequences of two politicians and their respective governments - desperate to keep hold of the fading limelight - who are trying (and wildly failing) to follow the data in a technocratic way that shows them to be more sensible than the horrid tories, who have the temerity to not want public life to shut down indefinitely every time someone needs to go to hospital.

It's ok though cos some people someone knows had a really sore head and throat for a few days and Nicola is keeping us safe from that 🙏🏻

He got delta variant a few months ago, he was a little unwell but nothing severe, it took him a few weeks to get back to full fitness though.

He's typically just under elite level sport fitness, eg, young, fit, healthy, so whilst he couldn't train properly for a few weeks he could go about his daily routine normally.

The Tories appear to have actually listened to the people they govern. With England saying 'Don't you fucking dare'.  The SG and the Senedd have gone 'Fuck it we're not listening to you, and do not question us.'

Yeah, fair enough. Months later. Under very different circumstances.

If that qualifies as "following suit" then I'll conceed your point.

While I agree that the restrictions seem uncalled for, it should be pointed out that England is the outlier here across Europe and the rest of the UK and NOT the other way around as some seem to be insinuating.

Time will tell who has taken the correct course of action and each Government will need to stand by those choices in front of their electorate......

The risk of any of the above happening to healthy 18-30 year olds is zero and has been since March 2020.

Which makes the JCVI's decision to not vaccinate the weans because 'och it's not too bad for them anyway' all the more ridiculous, given that 18 year olds who are not even remotely impacted by this shan cold either have been forced to get vaccinated, use vaccine passports and now have had their social lives curtailed by knicker-wetting government fiat anyway.

As ever, it is one rule to appease the concerns of parents but another when it comes to coercing the rest of society.

They are the outlier here because they allowed themselves to be outliers in the Summer.

They have consistently made choices with regards to vaccinations and easing of restrictions that afford them the ability to position themselves differently.

BJ explained this when he said they believed going through the exit wave in the summer would put us in a better place come winter. Everyone agreed. Europe didn't do this. VT I think it was highlighted what was going to happen there as a result.

But now that exact scenario is happening we are supposed to be critical of it?

If that is the case then it's absolutely disgraceful. And no amount of 'Well Westminster wouldn't give us the money' can cover it.

Playing politics with people's livelihoods.

In all seriousness though, its worth coming back to this very valid point @Jan Vojáček raised.

Has there been any mention of how nightclub staff are going to be supported if their place of work is forced to close?

....

Real world data was already readily available from South Africa for what happens if you carry on as previously during an omicron wave and allow it to peak with no extra restrictions but for whatever reason they chose to ignore that and listen instead to attention seeking computer modelling types with a track record of pushing worst case scenarios on the basis of very flimsy reasoning. What has unfolded over the last few days is laughable.

This has to be the end for sturgeon

completely fucked it . Any other politician would be hounded but she does still have her weird cult like fan boys and girls

That seems incredibly naïve.  As you say there are a load of people who will support the SNP regardless of what they do.  They have control of Holyrood and 4.5 years left of that term.  It's hardly a crisis for the SNP.

She comes across as too egotistical to step down but also more importantly who on earth would replace her?

I don't disagree and from a personal perspective I think the UK Gov have made the right calls / best calls for me recently from the perspective of the pandemic.

That said, would I want them Governing me with their arrogant self serving policies and utter contempt for Scotland ?

While the SNP may indeed have lost much support and trust during all this, it's still a huge jump for someone like myself, who's socialist leaning and anti conservative in almost everything, to suddenly jump ship just because Boris says I can go to the fitba or go out clubbing afterwards.

I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this ??
