The damage all this has caused really doesn't bear thinking about and it beggars belief that not a single person will be held to account for any of it. Can't go home if I want to return to work next week. My weeks entertainment will be buying things to drop off at the house that I'm paying not to stay in. A week as a bachelor... Make the most of it!

Primarily, I'd be making myself a close contact by sleeping in the same house as a positive Covid case, which would stop me going back out as per company / govt rules. Additionally, it's pretty high risk seeing as I can't go back should I catch Covid off my other half. There is a far bigger elephant in the room - the numbers of pupils and staff off self-isolating. Lady week we had S5/S6 pupils messaged on the Thursday not to cone into period 2 on the Friday as there wasn't enough staff to cover absent staff. This week was worse - our school had to pull in seconded staff from DCC as there wasn't enough staff to provide cover on Monday and Friday. Even with that, at one point yesterday, they still had 80 pupils in the school assembly hall and another 40 in the school library - being supervised by one DHT and the Head. The rest of the week they were doubling up or dispersing classes - just not good enough. If it continues this way their scenario 2 will go right out the window. That's surely bound to settle very soon though. The latest amendments should be sufficient.

That number is far lower than the average number of deaths pre-pandemic. The -1,345 is how much lower than normal.

Err, have died within 28 days of a positive test result. Mortality rates have also since returned to expected, pre-pandemic levels. I suggest you come to terms with this. 10 minutes ago, Suspect Device said: That number is far lower than the average number of deaths pre-pandemic. The -1,345 is how much lower than normal. Honestly, these people are the absolute worst. Immortality is not a thing.
Elixir
Meanwhile, I noticed Hong Kong are finally packing it in. I wonder if China will wait until after the Olympics or drag it out until the CCP national congress before letting rip. Probably the latter.

People die. Keep up. Respiratory deaths this year to date including Covid are lower than most pre pandemic years.
