has happened quicker than I might have imagined, but my work have started the process of getting everyone back in full time. They have not stated from when yet, though I suspect start of March…

We have been hybrid since June last year and I dare say some have got very used to it, but that’s it all over, and I’m sure plenty of others are away to find the same.

A couple of weeks left for me, making the most of it...

What do they think about Denmark and Ireland? It's amazing how tiny wee bits of theatre like we still have up here maintain the illusion of 'safety'. Still, down to 300 from the 1,200 who labelled July 19 an 'unethical experiment'.

Also this:

Vaccination does not stop the virus replicating. It prevents severe disease and death extremely well. This is quite simply a manipulation of the truth. Vaccinating the world will not prevent the virus from evolving, hence it won't prevent 'new variants'. Bad faith weaselry to try and make political attacks.

This is a case where the headline does not match the content. The article is about scientists suggesting more vaccination in countries round the world. The only reference to "reckless" is this:

Quote

Allowing huge numbers of people in low- and middle-income countries to remain unvaccinated is a reckless approach to public health that creates conditions where new Sars-CoV-2 variants of concern are more likely to develop

Hee haw to do with lifting restrictions. Only a vague mention of that at the end of the article.

You can't ditch masks! There are people in Chad and Mongolia and Magagascar that will never set foot in the UK and are unvaccinated!

Edit: that is an utterly perverse piece of journalism. The UK (or at least in this context, England) is not the centre by which the world revolves around. Absolutely fine with vaccinating the world and indeed there is a vwry real speed problem here, but weren't the signatories of that letter all telling us to go and get boosted, even those of us in groups that were very low risk of being hospitalised? They can't have this one both ways.

I was about to post the same, are those 3bn all planning to come to the UK?

Tell them you're too fat to get out the house. A wall will need taken off, or the roof and you'll need to be craned on to a low loader.
That's what I'm doing.

The world will never stop owing The Simpsons

It'll be like The Bible in a few centuries

Businesses that try to force their people back to the office full time will regret it. Attrition will go through the roof, they will be unable to recruit and they will leave themselves exposed legally.

If I was told to return to the office full time now I would resign immediately.

Clever employers will use WFH as a retention and recruitment incentive.

Absolutely, I cannot imagine sitting in a queue of cars most mornings going to work. What a waste of my time.  Hybrid working arrangements will be the norm surely (where that can work)

Great to get out and about meeting colleagues once or twice a week but I dont want to be stuck in an office with a 20 min drive home when I am on the tee at 5.05pm........

You would imagine so, but never underestimate the stubborness (and stupidity) of management.

As has been the case since business began, it will be those organisations who continue to evolve that will remain successful, with those that don't declining to the point of failure.

FFS. Going (alone) to inspect an unoccupied workplace for the landlord next week, some random from the tenant's staff is opening up for me.

They want me to wear a mask and bring a negative LFT before letting me in the building. Alone. Fkn jobsworths. No doubt they'll want a specialist contractor in after me to fumigate the place too..

Spoiler

jokes about fumigating everything after a Rangers fan has been in being fairly standard, or my intended use of the wc facilites are not required..

If you think that labour will get to retain an upper hand over capital then you've not been paying attention.

“you’ve not been paying attention” needs filed alongside “get in the sea” as deplorable patter.

And nobody suggested anything of the sort, so your post is somewhat odd.

Probably, in the long run. It'll be used as part of the package. Chance your arm to offer a lower salary but more flexibility elsewhere. E/ers will already be making huge savings in costs, but there will still be benefits for employees.

PCR ONLY Cases Update:  3 Day lag to allow reporting to be accurate.  This is an update from 10 days ago.

Lateral Flow Positive Results not recorded at this level is bizarre as I have found they are stored at Council level.  Must be some sort of political stunt as we no longer measure the same way as the rest of the UK when fed into UK stats on the UK Gov Site.  It screws around with TravelTabby as well.  Anyway I have done the sums to at least come up with the real Scottish number.

Total PCR Cases Scotland 7 days 19th January to 25th January were  32,280 to 25,683 Down 20.44%, Positivity was 18.4% now 17.6%.  Cases per 100K were 590.6 now 469.9

THE REAL NUMBER Total Cases Scotland 7 days 19th January to 25th January is 51,176 which equates to 936.3 cases per 100K

Home Nations Weekly Cases (LFT & PCR)  per 100K update  :  England  1129 to 1000 Down 11.43%, Wales 677 to 519  down 23.34%, Northern Ireland 1247 to 1481 Up 18.77%

Cases in Europe in terms of of numbers per 100K  Denmark 2595 to 4979, France 3147 to 3851, Portugal 2415 to 3783, Belgium 3121,  Switzerland 2036 to 2791, Sweden 2789, Norway 2604 countries over 2500 and still mostly rising.

Council progress PCR ONLY in last 10 days as follows.
