H Wragg
Looking at it from a different angle, it will be interesting to see what impact, if any, that has on infections and hospital admissions due to Covid-19 in London. If no spike in a couple of weeks, f**k it!Pubs fully openFitba back on with crowds the lot!

dirty dingus
Darren McCaffrey @DarrenEuronews Wow! From my calculation the UK today announced more #coronavirus deaths, 359 than the entire EU 27 combined, 324 - quite extraordinary Using @OurWorldInData Has this happened before?

Just as well we’re quarantining all these folk coming in from the EU.

Check the figures from the likes of France, Italy and Spain 2-3 weeks ago and compare them to ours now. I still find it incredible that people not only don't seem to remember that we have been 2-3 weeks behind throughout the outbreak, but seem outraged and surprised that we haven't somehow fast forwarded those weeks and caught up. If we are still at the level we are today in 2-3 weeks then of course we can be angry at not being closer to the levels they are at just now. But pointing it out right now as if it's a fresh outrage displays a lack of understanding IMO.

Surely that's why it is better for the Scottish government to take it slowly and let others be the guinea pigs. If there is a spike in London in the next couple of weeks then the SG is doing the right thing. If there is no spike and everything is hunky dory then it's only a couple of weeks and no big deal.
Todd_is_God
Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal about relative risk of dying of Covid-19 "If you’re an average American living outside New York City, the epidemic was a period with barely noticeable increased risk. Your chance of being an extra fatality was about 1 in 5,000, somewhat higher than your chance of dying in an auto accident in a year. And if you were under 50 with no serious health conditions, your risk was in the ballpark of 1 in 50,000" https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-measure-of-new-yorks-coronavirus-devastation-11591140254?redirect=amp#click=https://t.co/2pFL4wP8ga

To an extent, yes. My concern is it will raise eyebrows if there is a spike in cases, but be dismissed if there isn't.

It can't be a coincidence that we're also the unhealthiest as well.

I laughed at that as well #Jacksgranda but when I'm eventually let loose in Morrisons and I'm perusing mushrooms and somebody leans over me then I can guarantee I'll be coughing and howking phlegm and doing other disgusting things until they take the hint.

If the SG sees a spike in London (or no) then I'm sure they would act accordingly.

I'm absolutely certain that a spike in London would cause the SG to put the brakes on, but i'm also certain that a lack of any spike would not see them even considering the accelerator.

bennett
We have a virus which disproportionately affects people with Bame backgrounds and Bazza is boasting about breaking lockdown rules meant to contain it. What fcuking chance have we got.
