I was on LNER 4 weeks ago going to London.  They advised that as they were following English rules (as they are an English company) and the rules had just been relaxed they could serve alcohol on board again.  No-one was complaining at the discrepancy then.

Out of curiosity does anyone know if they enforce social distancing on ScotRail trains or if it is an actual legal requirement?

ETA they can't guarantee distancing on Scotrail so this would lead me to believe it isn't actually a legal requirement.

Vaccines don't prevent infection or transmission so cases, hospitalisations and deaths will inevitably increase.

Of course they dont, I know numerous people double dosed who have had it in recent weeks. The vaccines were all about preventing deaths and giving the elderly/vulnerable more protection. Outwith keeping everyone locked in doors to prevent ANY death at all then we've done all we can do (vaccines). Sadly deaths happened pre March 2020 for countless families every day and nobody gave a shit. The virtue signalling now is beyond it

17 days for people in England to get their first dose, or there’ll be at least some time when they’re legally not allowed to go to a nightclub or football match because of their vaccination history.

The great libertarian Johnson strikes again.

Vaccine passports are certainly less of an obstacle to getting in a nightclub then them being legally closed as they still are in Scotland.
Be interesting to see how Scotgov react.
Clearly need a good week to digest going by previous policies they have followed suit with.

Its a legal requirement. How well they enforce it is a different matter.

As for LNER, it matters little if they are English or otherwise. If its the law of the land in which they do business, its for them to make provisions to comply. That may even take the form of a request for exemption. No doubt a Tory donor company pushing it. They should have consulted the SG first as a matter of courtesy if nothing else. Hopefully Sturgeon shits all over them.

English arrogance knows no bounds and  they consider ALL Scots, far less the rest of the planet, lesser beings. You'd need a white stick to think otherwise.

They released a press statement saying transport scotland were informed of it and ok’d it. Matheson clearly seething. It does make sense for them to follow PH rules for one country travelling between two, especially given most of the average journey is in England.

I think it's because by September every person would have had the opportunity to have had 2 vaccines.

Even then, a negative test is fine now, if the nightclub even demands it. I don't think they all are. There is no reason whatsoever that this shouldn't be enough in September if it's fine now. Indeed it actually shows you don't have the virus and is therefore better proof than you're vaccine status, since we're continually reminded people can still catch it.

That c**t Macron going first was a disaster. Johnson is a follower and once someone else goes, he's happy to plod on as well. Hopefully Parliament manages to sink these shit things.

It's all coordinated. Israel first, then Europe, then America.

It can't be a hard and fast law to follow physical distancing on public transport.  Transport Scotland acknowledge this by saying it may not be possible.

I'd guess LNER are going down the reasonable and practical route.

Just in case anyone is still confused that's it confirmed you either get injected with whatever the government of the day tell you to for the rest of your life or get excluded from society.

Vaccinations will be the first criteria. It will inevitably be expanded into the benefits system, criminal justice and immigration before too long.
