Clyde01
It's clearly not just to save Hearts. If 14/14/16 gets voted through it'll require 75% of clubs to vote for it. Why would all those clubs only care about not relegating Hearts? If 100% of clubs don’t vote in favour then it has failed to meet the ‘nobody is disadvantaged’ criteria stated by the working group.Although we all know what they really meant is nobody important is disadvantaged.
San Starko Rover
Reports that the preferred option is 14-14-16 with Brora & Kelty Hearts into bottom tier. So not only are Clyde and others relegated to the bottom tier and Cove Rangers not promoted, prize money will be divided by 44 instead of 42. All to save Hearts from one season in the championship. Ironically a quick look at Jambo Kickback and according to Hearts fans the SPFL is pure out to get them yet from everyone else’s point of view they’re bending over backwards to keep Hearts up. Clearly living on the same planet as the posters of RangersMedia
David W
Hard to make a decision when so much detail is missing; promotion/relegation, playoffs, prize money etc. Can't see the majority of League 2 sides voting for this if it includes Brora and Kelty.
G_H
What's up with Brora and Kelty? I'm struggling to see any possible structure where no one is disadvantaged, because you would have to do something bizarre like have a massive 2nd tier, or odd numbered divisions.

Why would the worst teams in the country vote in two sides that will be better than them? Why would Elgin vote in a side who would be competing for players? Why would any side vote to dilute the prize money pot (however small an impact that may be)? Short termism will always win through in Scottish football. I am all for opening up the bottom of the League. Not convinced it should be happening this way. Neither should Falkirk and Inverness be gaining promotion.

Stranraer less so as they have been abysmal, but why should hearts and thistle escape relegation and not Stranraer. (Before someone claims otherwise it’s a relegation on all but paper). On the other hand perhaps Clyde have done well here, given that Stranraer still had a potential 29 points to play for and the resident Stair Parkers on here are convinced they had turned the corner it's quite conceivable to some that they could have overhauled Clyde in the run in.

Why would all those clubs only care about not relegating Hearts? What is going to be interesting is how the second division “bloc” react. As they stated they have already agreed to vote as one for a 14/14/14 . If that’s the case I think that scuppers the 75% of the lower leagues requirement. As an aside why ,when they have members on the restructuring committee and it’s ongoing, do they make public announcements about what way they are voting ? Why not try and influence from within, wait to see recommendation and then make a decision ?

Cove haven't actually won anything so moving to 3 leagues should be acceptable to them.Another story if they had already won L2.Then they could argue about being in the middle tier. But as it stands moving to 3 tiers is the fairest way IMO even if its not perfect and won't please everyone.

Clyde01
Cove will be promoted. They will be in tier 3 next year instead of the tier 4 this season. They are still in the bottom tier of the SPFL, one tier above the highland league and with all the same clubs they played last season, some of whom they beat by cricket scores. I’m not sure that will seem like much of a promotion.

If we change to 3 divisions then the lowest division will be at tier 3, nobody gets relegated. Even though Cove would still be in the lowest tier, that tier is still at tier 3, where they would have been if they had been promoted under the old 4 division set up. Simples. I dont know what club would go down under your thiunking.
Jack Burton
Cove will be promoted. They will be in tier 3 next year instead of the tier 4 this season. Promoted along side Brechin who were fighting relegation all season, sounds fair.
