Shannon
What did you all think of the list? Dalglish or Law for number 1? Goram at 5 and Andy Robertson top 10...seem a bit high? Missing a lot of players from 1900-1960..? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/53132194/page/4 A couple of my pals did a wee podcast on it and invited me to talk about it [emoji85][emoji23]. Excuse my bad chat and a couple of inaccuracies especially on John Collins, was a bit drunk doing it on a Saturday night. ewan14
The list was a bit of a joke. John White was absent , and maybe Edwin Gray as well Andy Robertson is actually in Johnny Giles best ever Liverpool 11 along with the other suspects so his high place has expert support I was pleasantly surprised by our friend Mike English choosing a 3 - 5 - 2 formation but not four of his choices

ewan14
There are clips on YT of famous players performances in big games. There is one of Denis Law v. West Germany at Hampden in 1969 which is rather good. Unfortunately there is also one of Franz B. in the return game in West Germany. ( I believe the back 4 for this game was Greig McNeil McKinnon and Gemmill ) They might not have covered themselves in glory defending set pieces Edited July 25, 2020 by ewan14
ewan14
Surely Eddie Gray must be the best Scottish winger of ( modern ) times !
Le Tout P'ti FC
The SFA are doing their own top 50. Willie Miller has just been announced as only 13th best. I'm outraged. I'm going to Park Gardens* to chain myself to a barrier in protest. 10th most capsHall of FameTwo World Cups Two European trophiesThree league wins, five runners upFour Scottish Cups, one runners upThree League CupsOnce played for Peterhead Met me once and probably still tlaks about it to his pals *whatever
Pocketman
maybe his failed chip shop, better together views or dismal punditry were factors

Derry Alli
Barry Ferguson should be top 5. -
Savage Henry
I think it’s safe to say that fans are just voting for their own team’s players. It’s a complete nonsense.

I think there will be an element of that, but as I said on another thread it was an online poll and therefore the majority of people voting won't have been standing watching Hughie Gallacher with Yer Granda 90 years ago. I reckon that's why there are so many 'modern' players of the last 20 years. Miller, McLeish, Dalglish were all still Scotland caps in my lifetime but I couldn't honestly have voted for them as I have no memory of them playing.
Gaz
I mean, you've got Darren Fletcher, Joe Jordan and Archie Gemmill in there at #11, #10 and #9. I doubt there are too many fans of the clubs they played for voting in this.
craigkillie
Yep, the SFA list looks broadly accurate and sensible so far, with the caveat that it very understandably has a modern bias. -
Gaz
Top 3 will probably be Law, Dalglish, Baxter? Not necessarily in that order.
Gaz
Top 10 so far: 10. Joe Jordan 9. Archie Gemmill 8. Graeme Souness 7. Billy Bremner 6. Davie Cooper
