ZingaliMan
Just heard the score over the radio. Well done Morton sounds like you had a great second half. Anyone know if Queens Park have ppv ?

Four teams could still go through incredibly. - Any win over Queens Park will put St Mirren through. A single goal loss with St Mirren scoring will also put them through if there isn't an outright winner in the Thistle v Morton game. - Morton and Thistle can both get through by winning their head to head outright in 90 mins AND St Mirren losing outright at Queen's Park (or winning outright by several goals whilst St Mirren lose on penalties) - Queen of the South can still get through but ONLY if St Mirren lose outright to Queen's Park by 1-0 or by two clear goals AND Thistle v Morton finishes a draw. Make it so.

Michael Doyle, Bob McHugh and Darren Lyon to have us dancing in the streets of Queen of the South only for a late Connor Murray or Gary Oliver winner in the other game to kill it.

It's very QOS to have a mathematical chance of winning our group while it simultaneously being impossible for us to be in the top 4 of those finishing 2nd if we do come 2nd in our group. One of Elgin/Arbroath guaranteed to reach 8 point mark.

vikingTON
Astonished that we emerged from that lineup this evening as the side with fewer questions to answer. We could and probably should have conceded another goal in the first half but the defensive shape was decent though just very deep. Strapp got the MOTM but for me Fjortoft was outstanding. If McLean can add experience alongside him and we keep McGinty on the bench and away from any sharp objects, we might have a decent back line going forward. Ledger did fine all night as well on the right. Blues being ditched changed the game because he's a League Two standard midfielder at best and we gradually became the stronger team for most of the second half. We didn't keep the momentum going to grab the win in the final ten minutes though and once it got to penalties we were relying on someone missing the target. McAdams is not an imposing figure in that situation. I didn't expect us to progress not least because second place was always going to get you nothing. It's turned into an interesting enough group because of Saint Mirren can't be counted on to despatch any team with ease right now. -

Nope, we still have a chance in the group, unlikely though it looks. Anyhoo, quite possible that our derbies could resume in the Championship next season, provided that: a ) we stay up, b ) Hamilton sack Brian Rice, and c ) St Mirren DON’T sack Jim Goodwin.

These current 2nd place tables are pointless when frequently the position is occupied by teams likely to go on and win the group. The bigger picture is: A : Hearts have won it. Runner up at best will get 8 and currently have a -1GD. B : 2 clubs already on 9 and playing each other so runner up will get 9 at least. C : Could still have 3 different runners up but we know whoever it is will have 8 points. The best 2nd place could be would be if St Johnstone lose on penalties to Peterhead. Peterhead would win the group and St Johnstone would be 2nd on 8 pts and +8GD D : Ross County will win the group as long as they don't lose outright at Stirling. Arbroath play Elgin head to head for 2nd. Winner will get 9. If they draw one of them will get 8 with a GD of either +2 or +1 E : Falkirk will almost certainly be 2nd on 9 pts and +6GD. Dunfermline could lose at Clyde but they'd still finish 2nd on 9 pts and a GD of something like +5 F : Annan will be runners up on 7 pts & +5 regardless of what happens in the Ayr v Stranraer game. G : Best the runner up can be would be Morton on 8 pts and +2 or more. H: Alloa will almost certainly be runner up on either 6, 7, 8 or 9 pts depending on their result v Stenny. (there's an outside chance of Airdrie being runner up on 6 pts but only if Alloa lose). So basically, Groups B and E will definitely have a runner up going through. Abroath or Elgin in Group D and Alloa in Group H have it in their own hands to reach 9 and go through too. If either of them slip up it's likely the Group C runner up would be next. To change that Morton (or Thistle) would have to win very heavily (and also hope Raith didn't do the same) Edited November 11, 2020 by Skyline Drifter

Dunning1874
Takeaways from that, other than the obvious that having the team we had out in the second half from the start could have given us a platform to win the game rather than shitebagging to keep the score down for 45 minutes. Regardless of whether we're playing full backs or wing backs, Ledger is first choice on the right Jacobs should start every game (everyone other than Hopkin already knew this) Blues and Muirhead aren't footballers (everyone other than Hopkin already knew this) Salkeld might have an energetic, physical chaos factor like Orsi, but as previously suspected and also like Orsi there is absolutely no thought process with the ball at his feet whatsoever. That may make him a useful attacking sub in the right circumstances but he should not be starting games. MacIver should be first choice centre forward
