the tungston weasel
Dandies1983 beats the_kid1433Well played. I thought you were close to finishing me after your Knight sacrifice and then piled on the pressure. But after that I felt I was just about working my way slowly back in, hoping for a mistake from you before I threw away my Bishop and then it was all over.Cheers.

I was going to continue to try play for a stalemate but that doesn't help anyone. Don't think I was ever in it but managed to hold on for 65 moves which I take as an achievement. Well played PK89

Well played PK89 Yeah. What spurred me on to making the draw today was seeing you weren't resigning and PK89 missing a mate-in-2, so I figured that a draw was a realistic possibility, and I didn't fancy waiting another 3 weeks for the replay!

Curmudgeon
In the cup Board_stupid defeats N5_SPUR by checkmate. It was really even for the first 20 or so moves, but the game turned on an apparently free pawn that ended up costing a rook.

I think the game was yours from early on, and it was just a matter of time before you killed me off. Good luck in the next round - back to the attempt for league survival for me.

Did you just chance a draw offer, and hope that KenDeans was insecure enough to accept?

pleslie99
Pleslie999 beats markf268 by resignation. A bit of a tight one, both struggling to breakthrough, then a pawn capture leading to a rook blunder swung the game in my favour. There was still a bit of chess to be played but I assume the resignation was down to a bit of frustration. Thanks for the game.

Yip a wee bit more perseverance and Ken would've got me, it was a surprise he offered the draw some people think two rooks are better than a Queen for the end game a lot of mental gymnastics M8.
