Inanimate Carbon Rod
Its a real shame it came to that, but again you’ve got politicians, celebrities, knuckle draggers, ‘experts’ chiming in, undermining confidence, abusing the family etc, the force obviously felt that they had to provide this information to respond to the massive misinformation tidal wave. Missing person investigations are split into 3 categories of risk, high, medium and low. High risk suggests that the individual is extremely vulnerable and likely to come to harm, to put this in perspective, someone who’s through medical problem (ie needs regular medication, care, is very frail/dementia), vulnerable (perhaps ASN, age, psychological illness, suicidal ideation history or a stated aim of suicide) or at risk of harm from other persons or a risk to the public. Id say she was quite rightly graded high risk from the offset given the history. Alcohol abuse in isolation isnt an immediate high risk though, but the psychological distress etc would put her there.
scottsdad
Needless to say, the diving expert has been giving his thoughts to the news. He now reckons she either walked off or a third party was involved.

Don't say anything and people/the media get antsy and start speculating and pouring stuff onto social media that could impact the investigation. But saying the truth - she had a drinking problem, had previous police involvement (ie suicide attempt or ideation) and disappeared next to a body of flowing water is a undignified and will be hurtful to the family, exposing the most private things about her to an audience of millions. Its not like the police and associated PR professionals have never been in a situation like this before. Its a monumental f**k up from day 1.

The fact he thought he had to get involved is mind boggling in itself but the fact a national "newspaper" feels the need to run with that story given what had happened in the proceeding hours is staggering. Broken Britain in microcosm.

Obviously missed his vocation.
