The club have been stabilised after the off-pitch issues earlier in the season, we've got an exciting new management team in. Time will tell what they can do, but definitely encouraging stuff!

TerrysChocolateOrange
Looks like a really exciting end to the season for the Midlands league, with the midweek games starting back up, squad depth will prove to be important. With a strong goal difference, Carnoustie still in the driving seat, but still alot of minutes to be played. Have enjoyed watching games this season. There is still an obvious gap between those at the top and bottom, but some teams have really made steps to improve and play some great football.

Ray Patterson
Considering Lochee United can still win the division (however unlikely that is) - is there any possibility that the Highland League Play-off can take place. Think you've answered your own question - in theory if the Midlands League produces a licensed champion then there should be a play-off with Strathspey Thistle. Though they are taking a while to sort it as the HL finished on 22nd April, it'll be 6th or 10th May at the earliest until Lochee are out of the equation.
welshbairn
If the unlikely thing happens it would only be fair for Lochee United to pay for Strathspey Thistle player's flights back from Magaluf..
LongTimeLurker
It's still very unlikely but Lochee have made more of an issue out of this than was likely expected a few weeks back. Is there anything in the rules about the playoffs having to happen by a certain date? Right now there theoretically could have been a round-robin unfolding between the NCL, north region, and east region champions so it's not completely unreasonable to keep the HL bottom club waiting until mid-May. Marten
We are level with Downfield and 2 points ahead of Carnoustie, but we have 2 games left, Downfield 5 & Carnoustie 6. Also one point behind Broughty with them having a game in hand. If we win both remaining games, we could maybe finish ahead of one of them, if we are very lucky 2 but absolutely no chance we'll stay ahead of all 3.

Looks like 9th place finish for them, great going after it only being there second season since leaving the amateur ranks.

I would say 'best of the rest' and by a decent margin over teams like Arbroath Vics and Forfar Utd. Brilliant progress so far. Where would that put them in the east or west leagues? Are they as good as most teams in the EoS Division 1 or more top half of Div 2?

Dont have a clue on WOS leagues but have seen Kinnoull from EOS a good few times and think they are on par with then so defo top half of div 1. Hopefully they can push higher up the league next season but a tough ask with the quality of teams in the league.

The whole league has been surprisingly good, I worried the gulf between top and bottom would be too much but everyone has had their say at some point and there hasn't been many cricket scores. Letham definitely improved a lot (and so did most "smaller" sides in the league to be fair, standard definitely improved this season). They looked good when they played us recently.
ScottishLoon
I'm out of the loop when it comes to the midland league but having seen how consistent carnoustie have been last two years, What's the chances of them meeting the sfa licence criteria anytime in the near future?
Judge
How many clubs in the midland league have the appropriate license to allow them to be in a playoff for promotion? To ensure ambitious clubs move up, should the playoff not go to highest league team with appropriate licence.?
