I do agree with your further point about a professional marketing promoter though. I agree. Being in the "posh seats" at Cowdenbeath or Albion Rovers is not my idea of glory, and in any event there aren't many "peasants" to look down on. It's a pretty meagre reward for the money and effort.

Merge this thread wi the multiple other LL pyramid threads then. Same patter all the time. I thought this might've been different. Obviously wrong. The op did not mention LL relegation.

Looking at their current attitude to relegation in their existing league is absolutely valid. You got any insightful opinions to add on the topic? -

Would Kelty (or Brora) vote for automatic relegation given it could be a threat to themselves in the future? You on the other hand come oot wi the same pish every time. Looking at their current attitude to relegation in their existing league is absolutely valid. 2016-17 & 2017-18 they relegated as normal. 2018-19 Selkirk go bust and they confirm they will still be relegating the bottom club. 2019-20 no one is relegated, but that's true across the Scottish non-league due to COVID and still provide promotion waiting on Bo'ness to get their licenced confirmed. 2020-21 with less than 50% played stick VoL out on a limb to get relegated depending on how the SPFL & LL Play-offs played out. The clubs likely to be promoted to the SPFL don't seem to care about the bottom of the LL all that much as it doesn't impact them, and they won't see themselves being Club 42 anytime soon. So if there's something in it for them i'm sure they will quite happy to open up SPFL2.

johnmc80
The pyramid in its current form dosen’t work. Think we can all agree on that. Untill every league has automatic promotion and relegation to get things moving then it will continue to stagnate. Its hard to shout from the rooftops at league 2 being a closed shop (which it is) when it could be 2 years with no relegation from lowland.

There's the fantasy of this thread and others about what they would like the pyramid to be, but I don't think i've seen anything about the HL/LL actively trying to change what's actually there. As they've got the understanding that's something that's going to come top down with the SPFL pursuing the change. The reality is they're trying to work within the existing agreements and get the play-off played nothing more. Last season was the one proper anomaly for that so far. The SPFL cancelling the SPFL2 Play-off early and the LL expanding to 17. So far the LL have rolled the dice on not breaking either the SPFL or LL Pyramid Play-off agreements. Declaring a LL Champion and put VoL at risk of relegation depending on the results of the Play-offs.
lowenan
Don’t see how the playoffs put VoL at risk with the tier 6 situation. Brechin will go to the Highland League if they get relegated. Kelty up, the SLFL is back to 16. If Brora or Brechin win, nothing changes.

The decision to declare on PPG was done before all the Tier 6 declared how they were finishing the season and when there was still the chance of a LL area club finishing as Club 42. And even now no one has stated that if Brora or Brechin win the SPFL Play-off that the LL will be at 17 teams next season. VoL are hoping for a Kelty win or the SPFL Play-off to be cancelled.

Andy groundhopper
Guess reality says 'dont promote or relegate' after a part season unless PPG has been agreed. We need to have champions straight up, two down from the spfl2. IF clubs see a massive opportunity to bounce back immediately, then maybe they'll be more agreeable to change. Hopefully next season will see a full set of fixtures played - no grumbles about finishing bottom
Clayhole Blue
We all know the carry on with the SPFL 2 traditional teams and some of their views of everything below them as if they don't exists and have no right to be promoted. How many clubs in League Two have come out and said they oppose having the play-off this season? Clearly Brechin have, but how many others?
