Once that’s done and the heavy machinery is gone there will be room for other trades. Even so, there is a lot of elements still to come together. Toilet blocks at each end of the east stand with substantial amount of brick/block work; disabled WC; emergency fire escape which now also incorporates a temporary turnstile for away fans (until South is open); concession stands; cladding; rails at front of stand; electrical; plumbing; signage; painting; home turnstiles; various in-situ concrete works. Plus, according to the original planning consent moving the pitch now necessitates relocation of all eight floodlights. This is part of the SFA license approval and is also a planning restriction on light pollution to local residents. Not a quick job. No idea how much works are planned for the Pavillion but as the design is still being discussed, and sounds like a moving target, that must be very tight now. The west stand was barely mentioned in the recent meeting and it won’t be approved to open until the adjoining kitchen area is deemed safe and compliant. There’s a lot of different trades to be brought into a relatively small area, all at the right time. There’s still issues with availability of some types of materials also. I also got a feeling at the meeting that the CEO thinks she can talk anyone round. Maybe she can but Building Control and the SFA Compliance folks will be a challenge. Maybe the benefactor has friends in right places? Your concerns are well founded. First league game is 15 weeks on Saturday. Presumably the stadium would need to be ready at least a week before that to allow time to get the various certificates etc.. Seems like a lot to do in such a short time.

I forgot to mention the commissioning period! All heating, ventilation, lighting, sound system etc to be tested before habitation. Safety is a big feature in a sports venue, both for Building Control and the SFA. And last but not least...will the Belhaven deal for Best be secured for kick-off?

Clearly capable of being a great asset in this league but he’s just too injury prone. Only came back a couple games ago after missing the last 4 months with another knee injury (think he hadn’t played since being subbed early away at Montrose in December). He did make a difference when he came on Saturday with his usual hassling and energy. Really Hoping he gets a couple starts alongside a couple goals going into the play offs. A reasonably fit murray could give us the slight possibility of achieving something this season. Edited April 11, 2022 by qpfc
Clown Job
Is the club going to start getting a lot more involved with the community in the south side? I reckoned you genuinely could grow the fanbase to a very decent size in that part of that city, especially with it becoming more and more multicultural, with new fans who perhaps don’t come from a football background in a cultural sense.

Surely, we must be aiming higher than this. Our next Commercial Partner should be somone from the craft-beer / micro-brewer sector.

My loyalty is assured.

Spider Rico
Hopefully we don’t repeat the same mistakes with the social club design from when the McAlpine was first built. I think the committee members who took the lead on that mess have stepped down now right enough.
NathanQP
I think there can be a happy medium where they have traditional beers in with some craft beers for those who are the that way inclined. What is important is that they listen to the folk that use it every week on their preferences as I believe they didn’t in the past. If folk want Tennents, let them drink Tennents
Hampden Diehard
Some of that modern craft beer is far, far too bitter. Support local stuff like Strathaven Ales and whatever fizzy pish the lager drinkers want. A couple of bottles of whatever the top knot hipsters want in the fridge. Belhaven Export is a top keg beer; better than their Best, if we're going down the keg beer route.

They're doing a great job at the moment at Firhill; generally one school and a youth / community group at each match. Players are also at a school before every home game to publicise it.

peternapper
How much use does the social club get apart from match days, our club is classed as a public bar i think so can be used at anytime without the need to be members which gives it a much better chance of making a profit.
