The Celtic way is an identity and successful, nothing is guaranteed, parking the bus and still getting beat is a diddy mentality.

You still don't realise that you are the diddy at this level.

Football fans are fickle as anything and will support their 'strategy' just as they will their team against anything.

If Celtic were sh*tfesting to draws and wins in Europe against better teams and going deeper in these tournaments they absolutely would take it and embrace it and phrase it as it is what they need to do and there would be nothing wrong with that. However they are getting pumped with a 'footballing  philosophy' but embrace that as the way to play.

Celtic fans reminisce about beating Barcelona in 2012 (Tony Watt goal) I believe they had about 16% possession and 3 shots on goal. Will fans really remember the 3-0 Real Madrid loss in 20yrs time because they played in a certain manner?????

Only if results matter more than the way you play the game.

It's not successful in Europe, which is the point you are ignoring.

Walter Smith played some of the most eye-bleeding football I can remember in his second spell in charge at Rangers but it got us to a European final as a result. To suggest that you'd turn your nose up at that because the football wouldn't be played the "Celtic Way" is ridiculous.

You still lost in the final so the eye-bleeding football was for nothing M8.
The Seville journey was more impressive, without going all Frank sinatra we do it our way.

So the 2-2 was a fluke?

No, it was the exception rather than the rule, and had Atletico retained eleven on the park they may well have won it.

Celtic currently have one point from a possible twelve, which may well soon become eighteen, but you ignore my wider points and cling to hope in the face of facts.

Like I said results have no effect or affect on Celtic going forward.

In 5yrs time your fans won't remember your glorious 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid, they will still remember the 2-1 Barcelona victory that was backs to the wall.

Results trump any footballing philosophy.

What a load of utter bollocks being spouted on here.

Are you seriously trying to say you would rather get pumped 6-0 and have a go than win 1-0 parking the bus?

This all comes to down to the indoctrined mentality of Celtic fans.  This pish about playing “the Celtic way” is only possible because your players and finances are so much stronger than the rest of Scotland.

We now have a whole generation of Celtic “fans” who are so used to success and playing free flowing football whilst scoring a ridiculous amount of goals that they all seem to be amazed when they try and play the same way in Europe and get their arses handed to them each and every season.

Is it arrogance? Stupidity? Both?

Seville has been mentioned - that was a lifetime ago and during a completely different era.  Yeah that was a great Celtic team and they played really well in the run to the final but that will never be repeated.  The only chance Rangers or Celtic have of a prolonged run in Europe is if they try and play sensibly in the Europe League.

To continue to try and have a go every season because it’s the “Celtic way” is insane.  Hopefully it continues though cos it’s some laugh for the rest of us.

not a fluke as such but an outlier, Celtics xG in that game was 1.13.

Athletico will play another 30 odd games against all levels of opposition and not lose a similar goal to Kyogos.

Stats and coaching analysis show they very rarely switch off to 2nd runners in that area as its packed out with their players.

It was a rare mistake, which happens.

A random 2-2 against any opposition is no basis for judging a team, may be the only thing Hartson was right about last night.

Celtic need to be judged on a wider sample, but unfortunately even when doing that we are woeful in Europe.
