bc57
Wishaw 1 Petershill 1 The scenes in the 94th minute when the away team deservedly equalised after the same player had missed a penalty 90 seconds before after a stupid challenge by the Wishaw sub. Wishaw defended their lead excellently ( apart from conceding the penalty) after their 48th minute goal scored by the svelte Kieran Brannan from the penalty spot. Can't recall the Petershill keeper making a save whereas the Wishaw keeper was a busy man in the 2nd half. First half was poor. Very impressed by the Wishaw number 3 and also the Petershill number 3, who was their goalscorer. Looks like a win at home v Petershill next week sees them up as Champions. Had Drumchapel scored a couple more today it could have been more interesting - tough on them having scored 6 today.
GNU_Linux
Peasy keep their title & promotion dream alive with a last gasp 95th minute goal by Jordan Scott. Goal difference is the first criteria in a tiebreaker scenario so Petershill need to add least +2 to their GD in their next game against Glasgow Perthshire.

I wouldn't have bet stolen money on us after 9 games when we had only won 4 matches, and were shipping lots of cheap goals and not scoring enough of the chances we were making. Fair play to Lauchy though, he ditched the strikers that weren't doing what he wanted and stuck Ronan Sweeney and Stephen Docherty through the middle, and they have managed 55 goals between them, 39 of them in the league. Ronan has missed the last month or so through injury, and it has allowed Doc to get himself clear as top scorer. He also settled on a centre back pairing of Ross McCabe and Craig McGregor which tightened the defence up no end. Because we had decent runs in the Scottish Junior and South Challenge Cups we've always been playing catch up, Drumchapel have always had a gap over us although we had games in hand. It wasn't until be beat them in January that matters were in our own hands again. After 9 games we had 15 points, then went on a club record run of 17 straight league wins which ended in dramatic fashion yesterday at Wishaw. Whatever happens on Saturday, I've enjoyed the season immensely. We've played a lot of good football, scored a lot of goals, and the best bit of all is playing teams and visiting grounds that I haven't been to for years.

Going back to the start of this thread more than one poster thought Wishaw were a stick on for promotion after the first 7 games.
spud4
Going back to the start of this thread more than one poster thought Wishaw were a stick on for promotion after the first 7 games.I pretty sure if you check back one person said “wishaw were looking good for top at this rate” after a very good start. At no point did anyone say they were a stick on for promotion and I don’t even believe anyone said that let alone more than one. Wishaw have done amazingly well to be where they are at this stage of the season.

Craig fae the Vale
East Kilbride Thistle 3-1 Vale of Leven. A disappointing end to what's been a difficult season. Looking forward to next season where I feel we have the quality to be challenging near the top. Congratulations to Petershill in their title win today.
Glenconner
Well done to Petershill on winning the league. And to Drumchapel, well there's 3 promotion places up for grabs next season so all to play for.
GNU_Linux
Petershill do the business in a manner best described using the proper nomenclature of by a bawhair needing a penalty late on to pip Drumchapel to the title & promotion. peasy23
We spent all of 8 minutes of the season at the top of the table, it just happened to be the 8 minutes that mattered most. Our last 20 games were 18 wins and 2 draws, and it shows how consistent Drumchapel Utd were that even that run of form almost wasn't enough to win the league. The whole squad deserves huge credit, but two individuals worth mentioning. Stephen Docherty chased what looked like lost causes all season, the second goal yesterday cam from him doing that, sprinting to close down the Shire keeper, blocked his clearance, then knocked the ball home. 24 league goals for him having started the season as a winger.Ross McCabe, can't say enough about the big man. Played every single minute of the league campaign, and had nerves of steel yesterday to step up and convert the penalty that got us over the line. Thanks to all the teams in Conference C for a terrific season. Not only has it been the most competitive Conference, imo it's been the toughest too. There have been no easy points on offer, even from the teams at the bottom end.

Been watching this league progress over the weeks and it's been fascinating. Commiserations to Drumchapel for a fine effort.
