HibeeJibee
Saturday 18th September 2021 Bo'ness Athletic (twelve) 12-1 Thornton Hibs Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 3-5 Crossgates Primrose Luncarty 2-0 Kennoway Star Hearts Ormiston 0-3 Leith Athletic Luncarty prevail, while Bo'ness Athletic humiliate Thornton, and Crossgates outgun Inverkeithing. Exceedingly attractive SF line-up: Semi-Finals (Saturday 23rd October) Crossgates Primrose v Bo'ness Athletic Luncarty v Leith Athletic
Deanburn Dave
I read that Thornton Hibs had subs listed but they weren't fit enough to play. Two Thornton players were injured when they were 5-1 down and they played out the game with 9 men. Mercilessly brutal of Bo'ness Athletic to keep the pedal to the metal and score 12 in a cup game.

HibeeJibee
Boost for prospective winners... favourites Kilwinning surprisingly exited their equivalent tournament. Strathclyde Cup Third Round (to be drawn): West Premier (1) Rutherglen Glencairn West First Division (6) Bellshill Athletic, Drumchapel United, Neilston, Royal Albert, St Cadocs, Vale of Clyde West Fourth Division (1) Harmony Row Rutherglen are currently 12th in West Premier and lost 1-0 at Thornton in last season's South Challenge Cup. Bellshill are 9th in West First A and recently crashed 5-2 at home to Dundonald in this season's cup. St Cadocs are 3rd in B and did well to win on penalties at Kilwinning... they also won 5-1 at Glenrothes last season; while Royal Albert are rock bottom. Drumchapel lead C... they lost 3-2 at Heriot-Watt Uni last campaign... while Neilston are 3rd and Vale of Clyde are joint bottom. Harmony Row are 4th in Fourth Division. At this stage Rutherglen, St Cadocs and Drumchapel are probably favourite to lift cup. Southern Alba Cup Final (on Friday 10th December at Queen of the South) Abbey Vale v Nithsdale Wanderers Abbey Vale are currently 5th in South and lost 3-1 at Haddington last season. Nithsdale are 6th. So certainly nothing to fear for whoever ultimately wins the Alex Jack in their pursuit of a Scottish Cup place.

parsforlife
Absolutely incredible game at Humbug today. Crossgates 2 down, going 3-2 up, quickly losing an equalizer and then going on to win on penalties, and that barely tells 10% of the drama involved throughout the game. So many missed chances from both sides including a saved bo'ness penalty late on in the 90. Is there a draw to decide the home team for the final, or is that already been decided?

Last time the Alex Jack Cup was contested, the final between Musselburgh and Oakley was played at a neutral venue; New Victoria Park, Newtongrange. From what you say, maybe that has changed this time around?

If it's neutral venue there are many many options with the two sides involved.

Perhaps it is neutral as who ever wins has a great chance to get into the Scottish Cup preliminarily rounds next season; again, if the same rules apply, where the winners of the cup have a play-off with South of Scotland cup winners to gain that privilege. Not sure how West of Scotland set up affects this?

Going by @HibeeJibee posts I guess there's a round robin between alex jack, strathclyde and southern alba winners. Hopefully he can confirm. Crow
Would fully expect it to be at a neutral venue as with all previous AJ finals Edinburgh United have listed above. It’s on the fixture list as Sunday 28th November.

If it's neutral venue there are many many options with the two sides involved. With the possible exception of some finals in the South - and even they have moved on from that IIRC? - all proper Finals at this level are played on neutral grounds. You'd probably have to go back decades to find a South Challenge, EOS Qualifying, Alex Jack, EOS League or King cup final at somebodies ground but even then it'd likely be an exception and an oddity. (In any case Peffermill 3G would be inadequate for hosting a game of this kind - and Humbug Park doesn't have any floodlights which would hamper a late November showpiece). Saturday 23rd October 2021 SFs: Crossgates Primrose 3-3 Bo'ness Athletic (aet, FT 3-3, 5-4p) Luncarty 1-2 Leith Athletic Leith scored on 85mins to win their tie. It looks set to be an epic final on Sunday 28th November as both clubs eye a shot at qualifying for next season's Scottish Cup... Crossgates are sitting 7th in Premier plus got here by beating Kirkcaldy & Dysart, Kinnoull, Inverkeithing and Bo'ness Athletic. Leith are sitting 2nd in First Division A Conference plus beat - all 4 away - Lochore, Glenrothes, Ormiston and Luncarty. With no round played this month it appears the West competition won't conclude until some way into the new year.

About 20 years ago Edinburgh City beat Whitehill in a Final at Fergie Park - I think it might have been the King Cup- because both clubs couldn't be arsed going to the original venue, Victoria Park. Whitehill were going for plenty of other trophies and weren't too bothered although we still had to beat them....

Some novelty facts that have occurred to me about this fine choice of venue: ... this is the first time the Alex Jack Cup Final has ever been played in Fife (indeed first outside Lothians + Borders) ... this is the first time any EOS final has been held in Fife since Saturday 6th December 1902 when EOS Qualifying Cup between Cowdenbeath and Hearts of Beath was played at Lochgelly ... this is the furthest north an EOS final has ever been played ... this is the first-ever senior final ever held at Kelty ... this is Crossgates first-ever senior final

Always get lots of people from the other Fife clubs turning out for such games. Looking forward to it.
