pleslie99
4 Central teams in the Semis. Biggest surprise is St Pats going out to Tower Hearts. Although Tower Hearts are a very good side I dont think many saw that result.
goalmachine
I did say I thought Annbank would give Lesmahagow a game. Anyone any word on how the game went ?
tommyboy
1-1 at half time, then Annbank leading 2-1 before the Gow equalised to take the game to pens. The Gow keeper then ensured that his swally ration was sorted for the evening by saving 2 pens as his side ran out 4-2 penalty winners. Overall, two pretty evenly matched sides on the day.

If it went to ET I think they would have won it, nevertheless pens it was and their keeper made a couple of good saves to win the game.

They where very good on Tuesday night aswell, although do believe they grabbed a couple boys from their 'junior' side for the game? I could be wrong. 7-0 win, with 5 of those probably avoidable due to some woeful goalkeeping.

The Gow play the same players every week, and there is more chance of the juniors asking them for players.

The goalkeeping wasn't that bad and far from cost Langlee the game. Gow didn't get out of 2nd gear in reality and cruised it.

Dev
The match was reported on by the Glasgow Evening Times: www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/20163680.tower-hearts-seal-scottish-amateur-cup-victory-penalties/?ref=twtrec Tower Hearts seal Scottish Amateur Cup with victory on penalties Colin Brannan fires Tower Hearts into the lead (Photo: Gerry Moore) TOWER HEARTS captured this year’s Scottish Amateur Cup after an absorbing final at Hampden on Tuesday evening. It was hardly surprising this contest between two sides from the Central Scottish AFL was a game of few clear-cut chances. Both sides had demonstrated remarkable defensive resilience throughout their journey to the showcase final: Tower Hearts had conceded a miserly one goal in their 7 ties, with Fallin conceding just 2 goals after having played one match more than their opponents. Fallin enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges without posing any serious threat to the Tower rear-guard. Tower opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 35 minutes after a clumsy challenge presented match referee Nicolle Andrews with an easy decision. David Quinn gave Fallin keeper Michael Watson no chance, sending his spot kick high into the top corner for 1-0. After a confident start, that goal unsettled Fallin. Tower enjoyed the better of exchanges and spurned a decent opportunity to extend their lead after 33 minutes. Jordan Davidson sent his effort wide after good work from Connor Brannigan. Stuart Henderson gave Fallin encouragement with free kick from 25 yards that slipped narrowly past. Tower came close to doubling their lead seconds before half-time. Kevin Fraser’s dipping free kick struck the crossbar before going over. Fallin began the second half in determined fashion. Graeme Milne did well to gather a fiercely struck effort from Stuart Henderson. The Tower defence then cleared after Milne had been able to hold a Fallin corner swung in from the left. It was little surprise when Fallin equalised after 50 minutes. Kyle Imrie created the opening with fine work down the right flank before crossing into the heart of the area. Stephen Donaghy timed his run perfectly to direct a powerful header back across goal and high into the net for 1-1. The game settled into a midfield stalemate with neither side able to forge any clear opportunities. The energy-sapping Hampden pitch started to take its toll on a number of players, resulting in a raft of substitutions. Not surprisingly, the match then lost some of its fluency. After 81 minutes, Fallin passed a decent opportunity to snatch victory in regulation time. A perfectly weighted pass found Stephen Donaghy clear some 14 yards out. Donaghy rushed his effort and volleyed over from a good position. Tower were first to threaten in Extra Time, Jordan Davidson trying his luck with an ambitious 24-yard lob. Fallin responded strongly. Kyle Imrie headed against the crossbar when he connected with a corner from the right. With so much at stake and tiredness taking its toll on both sides, it became inevitable the game would be settled by a penalty shoot-out. As he had done in the Semi-Final tie against Wishaw HSFP when he saved an astonishing 5 penalties in total, keeper Graeme Milne was again the Tower Hearts match winner. Tower converted 3 of their first 4 penalties, while Milne saved two of Fallin’s first three attempts. With Tower holding a 3-2 advantage they then converted their next spot kick to win 4-2 on penalties.
mcruic
Not sure 2nd division teams win the Scottish very often. A couple of mistakes in the PENS/ET scores (most of the games that say X beat Y AET, the result was actually the penalty shootout score). Also, Westerlands (GGP) 0-5 Viewfield Rovers (SSM) is mentioned as 0-3 on the GGP League website. Haven't been able to confirm which result is correct. Dev
By far the biggest source of info was the SAFA site but I found it very difficult to figure out what was meant when games went to pens and or extra time. It was, frequently, a question of best guess. If you check it out you will see what I mean. My main concern was getting the names of the winning teams correct in each match and round. The actual score-lines were often hard to find and I did not go to the lengths of checking Twitter etc for each match where there was a question mark over scores. I was interested in seeing how leagues and divisions might compare. In Ayrshire there were three Cups which I tried to cover i.e. SFA, WoS Amat and Ayrshire Amat. Putting that lot together somehow could be a reasonably solid basis for assessing clubs from that league against others from other leagues. Hope that helps.
mcruic
All national and district results have now been wiped from the SAFA website with the new season coming up, with no way to check previous seasons...
