Still couldn’t hold onto the lead for 4 minutes. Utterly spineless gang of worms we have At the game I thought that the Alloa player had fouled Hetherington, having seen the highlights though that clearly wasn't the case. I also thought that Durnan's hand was against his body and that the ball possibly hadn't hit it at all. Again though, the highlights show it was a clear handball and the penalty was the correct decision.

Hate when they’re given for these types of handballs. Durnan’s arm, for me, was close to his body, not in an unnatural position and it’s fired at him at pace. Incredibly harsh decision to award a penalty for such a thing.

A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised He was in the most natural position running. When folk ask me was it a handball - I just tell them it hit his hand. The rule as it currently is, is more of a joke than the deliberate handball version. Vegetableman
The problem is consistency how many have we seen that were NOT given in the same circumstance ? seems to depend on the mood of the ref .

Tend to agree with this. My view is that while the previous law wasn't perfect, it was tried and tested and usually the offender had done something wrong, whether clearly deliberate or at least stupid/careless. Now penalties are given, and it's not the referees' fault, when a defender has really done nothing wrong. The Durnan one falls into that category IMO. Correct per the current law, but unfair. We've benefited from such decisions too. Still a nonsense IMO.

I know I'm 'getting'? old but I'm sure there was a hand ball by a Falkirk player, think it may have been Hetherington, that wasn't penalised in the 1st half. I think his arm was at an angle to his body too. Nobody seemed to claim for it though so I'm probably talking pish!

I don’t know if I’m being extra critical of Ruth because I rate Keena, though can totally accept we need better than both if we want to get anywhere, but Ruth is absolutely stinking. Every week he makes it so easy for defenders he’s not got a first touch, very poor movement off the ball and he’s just looking for any touch to launch himself to the ground. I get he’s young and will improve but we’ve no time for that just now and he’s nowhere close to being good enough for League 1. The most baffling thing about Ruth is that he somehow has 3 goals. I'm still not sure how.

Just seconds before his goal at at Clyde he was presented with a chance right in front of goal and totally fluffed his shot. Keena's no Ronaldo but I think he would have burst the net with that.

Perhaps another player who produced the goods once he left Falkirk?

Scored for fun when Gregor Abel's team won promotion, but was ineffective in the higher division.
