Final 2009 when it was tied up and the Canadians couldn't work out what to do. 18 mins for the bit where they chuck it.
Note the scores- 6-6 so not far off what the 5-5 would have been if the US had taken 1.
That's mental that after 6 and a half minutes of debating the best they could come up with was to do nothing. You would think that you have to try and block it somewhere.

Sort of. They had last stone so typically you don't want to block up the centre.

There was something to make it useful though.

Watching and hoping Canada beat the US right now. The US still being dicks at times.

Canadian skip might rue not managing to draw in for the 3rd shot at the 8th end.

With the current interest being shown by the public and the great performances of the Scottish teams it would be great if the BBC or ITV could do a deal for coverage of the world championships in the next couple of months (women - Mar, Men - April)  It cant be expensive and would fill hours of day-time schedules (womens in Canada and mens in Vegas)

I’d imagine Eurosport have exclusive rights along with the world curling tv YouTube channel but it would be good to see them do a deal to at least show the final if Scotland get there.

Have they said who’s being selected to play for Scotland? Traditionally the following system was in place:

- In any non winter Olympic year, the Scottish championship winning team goes to the worlds

- In a winter Olympic year, the Olympic team is ineligible to play the Scottish championships as they clash with one another, so the Scottish championship winner plays best of three against the Olympic team (In 2018 both Olympic teams lost, but that was where team Mouat first emerged. I think Muirhead’s team were just fatigued from Pyeongchang because they lost to a pretty hopeless rink)

However, that has now been scrapped and Scottish Curling just selects a team, with the only rule being they must have entered the Scottish championship. If you enter it and then drop out to play the Olympics, you remain eligible. So, Mouat and Muirhead are both eligible along with all of the teams playing in the Scottish championship which starts on Monday.

On the men’s side I think they’ll offer it to Mouat if he wants it but he might opt for a rest after a very long season, particularly if they win the gold medal tomorrow. If he does choose to sit it out then Ross Whyte (Mouat’s alternate who’s own team are top 10 in the world) or Ross Paterson (who’s team are funded as part of the elite curling programme) would be in a good position to get the berth.

On the women’s side I’m not even sure Muirhead will be offered the spot. I think they’ll opt to look at some younger skips and start planning for the next Olympics. The team that is favourite for the Scottish championship is skipped by Rebecca Morrison and consists of the four elite funded curlers who missed out on selection for Beijing, so I think they might get the consolation prize of a spot in the worlds, especially if they win next week’s Scottish championship.
