If you get the bronze then you use up the disappointment in the semi final but then you get the elation of winning the 3rd place playoff to earn your medal. Silver just feels a bit empty. Had 5 Live on earlier in the week and one of the Universities had done a study on how satisfied medal winners were with what they had won. Bronze medal winners were generally happier than silver medal winners.
