A win will secure Top 6 for Motherwell. A point will be enough if Hibs fail to beat Hearts or County fail to beat Aberdeen. It will also be enough if Dundee scud Utd by 7. Never heard of someone having a hangover when they’re still pished!
topcat(The most tip top)
Never heard of someone having a hangover when they’re still pished! This thread is about what is technically possible not what’s vaguely plausible So, for example, a win for Aberdeen could be enough to put them sixth on Saturday evening but they would still have to wait till Sunday just in case St Mirren beat Rangers by 13 clear goals

ETA was going to add just kidding, but where’s the fun in that. Edited April 3, 2022 by Granny Danger

According to Paddy Power, the odds on this are 77/1.

I'm pretty sure it's the case, but the fact Utd are only 12/1 with Bet365 to finish Bottom 6 has made me doubt myself.

10menwent2mow
Hearts sealed 3rd place today. Congratulations to the Jambo's. I don't think Dundee can finish any higher than 8th. Although they can get to 40 points. A draw between Hibs and Livi would take both to 39. If they were then to have a draw and a defeat to St Mirren and Aberdeen this would see them both to 40 but would also see St Mirren and Aberdeen on 40 and they would still have to play each other. Plus it would mean St Johnstone beating all 4 of the teams above them giving them 42. Once fixtures are confirmed we can have a look at the permutations for week 34.
10menwent2mow
So week 34 can see everyone in the Bottom 6 bar St Johnstone save themselves from the automatic drop. Hibs and Livi need to match Dundee's result to save themselves. Aberdeen and St Mirren would need to win and hope Dundee don't. If Dundee lose to St Johnstone and Aberdeen and St Mirren both win, then 11th will be the height of the Dee's ambitions for the season.

Surely that first sentence should read ‘Dundee and St Johnstone’?
10menwent2mow
Just now, Granny Danger said: Surely that first sentence should read ‘Dundee and St Johnstone’? I kinda thought it went without saying that the team in bottom couldn't save themselves from being bottom with 4 weeks of the season left but I'll be sure to be more careful next time.

big al
It’s now a mathematical certainty that Aberdeen have had an absolutely horrendous season.
topcat(The most tip top)
Hibs and Livingston are now safe from finishing bottomThey meet at the pastadrome next Saturday knowing that the winner will be officially relegation proof regardless of other results A draw could secure top flight football next season for both clubs if St Mirren get anything in Perth Another note on that match for stats fans is that Hibs and Livingston have the worst disciplinary records in the league. Livingston have more yellow cards (77) than anybody else Hibs have had the most players dismissed (eight) [/img]
10menwent2mow
So, Livi and Hibs saved themselves from the automatic drop at the weekend but they can still face the playoff (how did that go for Hibs last time round). In the upcoming fixtures. Hibs or Livi will avoid the playoff if either win their fixture with each other, a draw would see them both avoid it should St Johnstone fail to beat St Mirren and should St Johnstone lose, they will also both be safe. St Mirren will avoid the automatic drop if they match Dundee's result, whereas Aberdeen will be safe from 12th place with a Pittodrie draw against the Dee's. Nothing can be decided in the top half.
