Can't see Putin being ousted somehow. Which is a shame as he's in my dead pool squad.

He’ll fall out of one of those famous Russian windows.

He’s my DP captain, any in any case it would be some fucking party when he does die.

Igor's take, by no means a fan of Prigozhin.

Quote
So, the strategic idea of Prigozhin's team is extremely clear, logical, very risky, but it strikes with courage and has a chance of success in an atmosphere of sluggishness and demotivation of all power structures of the Russian Federation. Having gained a foothold in Rostov and diverting attention to themselves, they sharply throw the most combat-ready shock units (several thousand bayonets) into a raid on Moscow. Their task - bypassing all major centers (Voronezh passed by, passing Lipetsk as well) and trying not to get involved in battles with local garrisons (even without blocking them) - to rush to Moscow and by all means reach it as soon as possible. Further - the calculation is made on the panic and flight of all senior officials and the seizure of power "lying on the ground." Further, Prigozhin will only have to take the turn of those eager to urgently swear to him "suddenly seeing the light" officials of all ranks and solemnly enter the Kremlin. "And there - it will be seen" (what will happen next with Russia, the criminal and the garcon, I'm sure, worries the least, for that he will certainly become the "best in hell" and go down in history as the first criminal who took the post of ruler of our unfortunate country ).
This strategy has only two vulnerabilities: the possibility of a collision with relatively large units that are combat-ready and do not want to surrender (or remain neutral) before approaching Moscow, and - inevitable in this case, problems with supplying the strike force, which will fight in isolation for longer than a couple of days from the supply will not be able to. And then - inevitably defeat.
And here the Wagner strategists again "guessed" the decision - to "dig in" part of the forces in Rostov and attract there the efforts of those who are still ready to fight (at least at the level of intentions) for the Kremlin.
In general, there are twice as many "service people" in Moscow than in the entire "Wagner" and many times more than in its shock group. But how many of them are able to fight and whether they will do it at all is a big question. This is the whole "intrigue" and the key to the outcome of this (I will pay tribute) brilliantly daring "raid". Whether
the idea will work or not, we will find out, perhaps, already at the beginning of the next day.

The only point that can be given in favour of Wagner is that the Russian Federation is, when it wants to be, very  Bureaucratic.

If the Kremlin wants something done, it goes through the system at lightning speed.

If the Kremlin don't care, it's about as slow as, well, their supplies to Wagner.

The Russian Regime will be shitting themselves because, well, it's happened before. I probably don't need to elaborate, but the parallels are extreme. The Invasion of Ukraine is an opposite to the German invasion of Russia, with the German Empire being stuck in Russian Poland, with Russia the ones on the Backfoot. This time they're in foreign territory and in the driving seat, despite their struggles.

The only thing I can think of that is a sign of hope for the Kremlin will be that the people haven't revolted to go with it. That's what drove the 1917 revolution into total Civil War (with the formation of the Red Army, then foreign intervention, etc.), and it would be what pushed this over the edge. Wagner has an army comparable to a small nation - and It would surely be able to pick more up along the way.

Putin is well and truly f**ked here, if things escalate.

I was expecting full on bloodshed amongst Russian and Wagner forces today, it's been slightly disappointing.

Is that because there's no one in the Russian Army particularly keen to fight against the Wagner forces?

Wagner wouldn't have taken over the southern military district command HQ so easily in Rostov if the Russian Army were gung ho about defending Putin.

Maybe they didn't want to turn Rostov into Bakhmut/Mariupol, or because the HQ was mainly staffed by admin clerks.

They had to reach Rostov first. Was seeing tweets about a 50 km long Wagner column leaving the occupied Donbas for Rostov late last night and assumed it was a farfetched windup so didn't post it here. Rostov is one of the main logistics hubs for the war so seriously doubt its just admin clerks that are stationed there. Since then and for the last few hours a Wagner column has been driving up a highway to Moscow with no signs of any roadblocks being prepared and only the occasional helicopter showing up and getting shot down. Strongly suspect that if a Ukrainian armoured column decided to go for a jaunt up the highway from Chernihiv to Moscow today the response from the Russian military would be considerably more robust and effective.
