vikingTON
No prizes for their dud 'spring offensive' but at least a Darwin Award is on the cards: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/07/grenade-among-birthday-gifts-kills-adviser-to-ukraines-military-chief Quote Ukraine’s interior minister, Igor Klymenko, released a statement saying Chastiakov had been showing his son a box with grenades inside that he had received as a gift. “At first, the son took the munition in his hands and began to turn the ring. Then the serviceman took the grenade away from the child and pulled the ring, causing a tragic explosion,” Klymenko said. Police had identified a fellow soldier who gave the gift, said Klymenko, and seized two similar grenades. An investigation was under way. Who hasn't forgot to get a present and, instead of buying tat from a BP garage, substituted in live grenades instead? And who wouldn't show them to a 13 year old to play with. Could've happened to anyone tbh. Edited November 7, 2023 by vikingTON

LongTimeLurker
Worth noting the damaged corvette wasn't in Sevastopol but a shipyard very close to the Kerch bridge on the other side of Crimea. If those missiles were not intercepted, presumably all the Americans need to do now is provide the necessary type of ATACMS and the road and rail bridges can be taken out. Same comment with the Germans where Taurus missiles are concerned. There's also talk from some of the more credible twitter accounts that the Ukrainians have been moved at least one armoured vehicle to the left bank of the Dnieper close to Kherson: The Ukrainians reportedly have been able to gain dominance in that area where drones are concerned (whole thread is worth a read) : Edited November 7, 2023 by LongTimeLurker

jagfox
Shahid drone attacks over last few nights, large % eliminated by air defence, also artillery attacks have resulted in Ukraine evacuating civilians in north east. Russian still pressing in a coupke of places and Ukraine still has a foothold on the left of the Dnieper. Overall any significant changes are unlikely as winter sets in.
MazzyStar
Whatever happened to those hibees that went over early on in the war? Did they just take a couple of photos and then came home?
TxRover
Russians stepping up use of glide bombs, mostly sourced from Iran. Will get very quickly interesting when Ukrainian pilots start more patrols with the F-16’s, as the glide bombs require the Russian launch aircraft to be much closer than the previously preferred cruise missiles.

TxRover
Russian troops in Crimea resorting to pretty crude methods to try to counter Ukrainian advances. With the damage to ships, apparently some RBU-6000’s have been converted to an ersatz ground attack role. Only 3 miles of range, but an impressive amount of explosives to dump on someone from near vertically. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2023/11/28/take-a-surplus-anti-sub-rocket-launcher-bolt-it-to-a-truck-and-brace-it-with-lumber-voila-the-latest-russian-panic-weapon/?sh=3d15fe2233c4

Probably happy they can ship off some of the munitions they’ve been incinerating for the past decade or so because they were reaching their end of life. Right PITA to have to check if they were scheduled to burn stuff/blow stuff up each day before you cleared flights into the airport, couldn’t fly the standard approach when they were. Pennsylvania gets the lead with some armoured vehicle work, plus fun stuff like IWI (formerly Israeli Weapon Industries) in Middletown.
