It does my head in that football and footballers can’t adapt to conditions. So what if it’s a bog, it’s the same for both teams. So what if it’s foggy, save money on floodlights and wear predator-esque infra red goggles. Play in wellies, crampons or whatever. And yes, play in loafers if the pitch is baked.

God, I remember when they played on nothing but mud with white lines on it.

Probably most of the time games are postponed because of safety fears for the players or supporters getting to and from the stadium. Also, in the case of fog the officials have to be able to see what’s going on.
