Beans on toast

Recommended Posts

Definitely a sneering class issue, until it's fetishised by the middle classes. One of these foods/meals that will be 'ironically' sold by places on Byres Road for £4.50 with the word "scheme" in there somewhere.

Went through a beans on toast phase a few years ago and started varying what I could add to it.

Does everyone spread butter on their toast before adding beans rather than having dry toast, I would hope so?

After spreading the butter I found mustard was a good addition to change things around. English mustard was ok, French mustard or whole grain was best.

Curried beans on toast was nice.

It was a good lunch time meal for a Saturday before heading of to watch the football, no need to buy anything at the ground.

Anyone who puts butter (or margarine) on anything is a weirdo. Mingin stuff. Worse are cafes who assume everyone likes it. Bloody hell, at least ask before spreading the vile stuff on my toast/roll etc.
