passbackdave
Throw it on 2 or 3 seasons. Darvel get into the big leagues replacing say Albion Rovers. And the money dries up. Darvrl would still be left with the infrastructure, floodlights, cover, maybe more seats etc. Not bad for a wee village former Junior club. And they'd still be in the big Scottish Cup every year.Infrastructure lol have use got youth teams that last a season? When the money dries up mk will be away as will all ur squad and ull go back 2 witever league use were in before pie man got involved and all it takes is for him 2 get bored or fed up. Pnce the team starts 2 go down the league ur crowds will aswell. Didnt think ur crowd v us was a team going for promotion. Soon becoming a big white elephant in a tiny wee village. Strange then that there are a number of small village teams that can maintain licencing standards. This is true but they are generally cannon fodder in the Scottish Cup. I don't get this obssession with being in the Scottish Cup. Being in it means nothing, it only gets you a couple of grand. You need to win games to make any sort of money. If you are a poor side that is never going to happen. No disrespect to the likes of Wigtown and Bladnoch etc but they are ilicensed and nobody thinks of them as a big club or a prestigious club because they are in the Scottish Cup

Don't compare Darvel to your Irvine Meadows or Kilwinning Rangers who fell apart when the cash disappeared. There is a long term plan in place so maybe best to wait and see how things pans out before spouting your set in stone assumptions. -

Yes medda and the buffs fell to bits but medda are now back and are stable licence club. The buffs got it harder as they had a crumbling ground not fit for purpose and had to move to get the club where they are now and like medda going to be a licensed club which now makes us a bigger and better club than we have ever been in our history.

True, you can't compare Darvel to Buffs or Meadow, they still exist, Darvel won't in 5-10 years

Plus the money you get from the Scottish FA for holding membership. Having a licence is a lot more than just being in the Scottish Cup.

Mon the papers Entity 1 - Formed 1888 folded by 1895 Entity 2 - Formed 1899 after Duntocher FC moved to Clydebank and changed their name accordingly before being disbanded around 1902. Entity 3 - Formed 1914 and defunct by 1931. Entity 4 - 1964, the Steadmans merged East Stirlingshire FC with Clydebank juniors to form Clydebank FC before selling the stadium without a ground to play at, tinpot stuff, and playing home games at both Dumbarton and Greenock until they became Airdrie after being bought out around 1996. Entity 5 - The current incarnation. You've had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus ya clown shoe.
