Homer Thompson
Let's let them kick a ball for Queens before passing judgement Im not judging just giving an opinion I think Hutton is a really good signing and I'll be delighted if Heffernan proves me wrong
Sloop John B
The Heff has looked finished for the past two years whenever I've seen him so I can't say I'm especially impressed by it. At least it adds depth and competition. Hard to say with Hutton whether it's because he's played for an atrocious Rangers team or because he isn't actually that good but at least until January isn't going to hurt us too much in the long run. Who's going to be first to tell Kyle that there isn't a #nandos in Dumfries?
Monkey Tennis
Who's going to be first to tell Kyle that there isn't a #nandos in Dumfries? That is a concern. Obviously it's an open secret that Baird and Kerr left because they felt betrayed by the fact that our club had pretended that the town still had a functioning Wimpy.
spacekid84
Hutton, Tapping and Jacobs will be competing for one midfield position. Unless the manager is planning on dropping Jacobs back to centre half with Dowie and Higgings

So that's why McIntyre went to Ross County. Wimpy is the only landmark of note there.

Hawk
This. The fact they'll probably come in at the expense of Smith and Pickard is also disappointing. Holt, Reilly, McShane and Durnan were playing regularly by the time they were the age that Smith and Pickard are now. Doesn't boad well for game time for these youths. Game time should be given to these youths so they can progress just like their predecessors.
weeredbook
I don't doubt he can, but I can't think of a single occasion when he has? Played there regularly for D& G regional team .

Skyline Drifter
Holt, Reilly, McShane and Durnan were playing regularly by the time they were the age that Smith and Pickard are now. Doesn't boad well for game time for these youths. Game time should be given to these youths so they can progress just like their predecessors. None of the players you mention were playing regularly at the same age, and certainly not at this level. Pickard and Smith have not long turned 18. Pickard is almost 18 and a half, Smith a couple of months younger. Kevin Holt made his debut for Queens as a late sub at 18 years and 9 months old. He made his first start a month later and was a regular starter from around about his 19th birthday. Gavin Reilly played a couple of games as a late sub when he was not long 17 but didn't reappear in the first team at all after that until he was more than 18 and a half. He made his first start at 18 years 8 months in a home game against Morton but was still a sub more often than not until Allan Johnston made him a fairly regular starter in 2012/13 (in a lower division). Even then he more or less shared game time and starts with Derek Lyle. Ian McShane made his debut under Brannigan just after his 18th birthday right enough and was a used sub for about half a season following, though he started only three games. He then got injured and barely kicked a ball for two full seasons before McIntyre reintroduced him to the first team not long before his 21st birthday. Mark Durnan did actually play for Arbroath for a couple of months on loan before his 18th birthday, albeit at division 3 level. He played 4 games for Stranraer the following season too before his 19th birthday, again in division 3. He then spent half a season on loan at Elgin after his 19th birthday still in division 3 before joining us at 19 and a half and and playing pretty much every week after that, albeit initially at second division level. In fact only Reilly made his first team debut at a younger age than either Pickard or Smith and he only played about 15 minutes until he was older than they are now. Pickard has made his first start at a younger age than all bar Durnan, who did it two divisions lower during a loan spell. Smith still has five months to get his first start in at a younger level than either Reilly or Holt managed. McShane did make his debut at 18 years and 81 days though. Smith is already a couple of weeks older than that.
Homer Thompson
Jake Pickard? Pickard did ok on Saturday but I dont think he's ready to be the fourth midfielder in the squad. Like Smith, I'd like to see him get game time but we need additional cover as well. From what Ive seen of the two, Smith is the one I see as making the most contribution this season. -
