Not sure any of them would last night[/quoteIIReilly and Holt would have made a huge diffrence.

Marshell is miles away from being anywhere as good as Holt.

You can see why Hearts signed Reilly and let Oliver come to us.

Yet to see anything from Oliver to suggest that he is even close to the player Reilly is.

Why did we sign the boy on loan from down south if we had no intention of playing him..

Surely he could not be any worse than we have now.

Some statistics to chew over.

Friday night was James Fowler's 40th league match in charge of Queens (not counting the two playoff matches against Rangers. In 40 matches he's achieved 18 wins, 10 draws and 12 defeats for a total of 64 points and an average of 1.6 points per game.

Jim McIntyre was in charge of us for exactly 40 league games also (not including the two playoff matches against Falkirk). His record from 40 games was 18 wins, 8 draws and 14 defeats. Fowler is 2 points better and had to deal with 4 games each against Rangers, Hearts and Hibs in there. McIntyre managed 1.55 points per game.

Comparison to other managers further back (ignoring Allan Johnston who lost his only game at this level):

Gus MacPherson, 35 games, 7 wins, 11 draws, 0.91 points per game

Kenny Brannigan, 47 games, 18 wins, 12 draws, 1.40 points per game

Gordon Chisholm, 97 games, 37 wins, 27 draws, 1.42 points per game

Ian McCall, 58 games, 16 wins, 18 draws, 1.14 points per game

Iain Scott, 50 games, 17 wins, 13 draws, 1.28 points per game

John Connolly (1st Div only), 70 games, 25 wins, 21 draws, 1.37 points per game

Fowler has the best results at this level (despite probably having the toughest opponents), closely followed by McIntyre. Chisholm is a good bit back on average but achieved over more than twice as long. Brannigan and Connolly's records were similar to Chisholm's.

Very good research, maybe now some of the doom & gloom merchants might just give the manager a break. Edited by SUPERSOUTH

While I'm updating some stats another one that caught my eye:

After having no live tv football in our first 88 years of existence, Friday night's game was our 19th live match in just over 7 and a half years. The first being the Scottish Cup semi final against Aberdeen in April 2008. (We also had a delayed live match at home to Rangers in the Ramsdens Cup after they were prevented from showing it live due to UEFA technicalities).

We have a fairly reasonably tv record considering they've mostly been "big" games for which we've been second favourite.

7 outright wins + 2 wins on penalties after 120 minute draws.

3 draws

7 losses

Four of our 7 losses were against Rangers, 1 against Nordsjaelland and one each against Ross County (Alba Cup Final) and Falkirk (Scottish Cup last season).

Here are some more stats.

Since we last won a home game our players have scored 2 goals in 8 hours of football at Palmerston. That is 1 every 4 hours, or £40 per goal for anybody who was at them all. And one of them was a consolation when we were already 5-0 down.

If we lose on Saturday, the run of 2 points out of 18 will match McPhesrson's worst run. 2 draws and 4 defeats in 6 is already matched if the League Cup game against Morton is included.

Fowler has indeed done alright, but the suspicion that he has yet to rebuild a successful team of his own, remains unchallenged.

The striking one is McCall though. Despite his posturing about not being supported by the board, and his self serving 'Great Escape' propaganda, he was pretty shit.

Was Friday night the first 0-0 for one of our live games? I know one of the draws was Rangers last season, but can't think what the other one was.
