Are they moving it to Rugby Park on the Sunday 3pm? Seems sensible

Surely they have to!

Even Hamilton or Motherwell, even on the Friday, at least there's somewhere from a drink and transport home... but a cup final at Broadwood on a friday night?! No thanks

Lowest attendance for a final on Wikipedia is 3,030 (unsurprisingly it was for Carnoustie v Tayport at Firhill in 2004), next lowest is 3,523 - wonder if either of those numbers will be reached at Broadwood...

that is itself is wild that Carnoustie v Tayport was even held at Firhill, jesus

Also one of the worst finals I've ever seen

Absolute Shambles Scottish cup final more like amateur hour down the Green what happens if both teams turn around and refuse to play it what happens to their PRESTIGIOUS tournament SFA sinking into oblivion no wonder they cant get people to sponsor it

The fact that the Broadwood story was common knowledge last Friday at the first of the semi finals means this was planned well in advance.

Take it the possibility of East Craigie being in the final was taken into consideration.

Would have preferred a Rugby Park, Motherwell, Firhill or a Paisley.

Btw i wouldn't be hanging around Broadwood too long after the game if you plan to get back to Ayrshire by public transport.

I recall the South Challenge Cup final was revealed as Sunday 28th May at Broadwood when they made the last 16 draw (think it was done there). At least that will be in between Gartcairn/Drumchapel and Spartans.

Though with Spartans potentially being in a play-off and both WOS teams still playing league games that weekend, perhaps it has been pushed back a week, so the SJFA couldn't get the Sunday at 4pm?

Was that the one Bobby Geddes played at about 73 years old and had a blinder?

He wasn’t that old, but yes he did well.

It was no classic, though no harm to either side. Made worse by the first 20-30 minutes not being live as STV (understandably) stayed with the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Scottish Junior Cup Final is confirmed for Friday 2nd June 2023 at Broadwood Stadium, 7.35pm kick off and live on BBC Alba.

Respect

Great public transport links and facilities round about the ground for anybody wanting food or a lemonade or two.

Naw haud oan.

Seriously between Friday night Cup finals over a mile away from Croy Station and this Conference farce coming down the road are the blazers smoking funny cigarettes.

Wrong place wrong day and wrong time I'd say.

the junior cup final was a family event, maw, paw and the weans, friday night killed that, so make it for the adults, few beers before and after the game, like firhill.. err nope.. fine a ground thats easy for both sets of fans to get to like rugby park or even meadow park, ha ha, rush hour traffic is more fun

how to kill a final

  • 2 weeks later...

I see Cumnock have filled at least 15 buses for the Junior Cup Final and I am sure Glencairn will have their biggest support at the game for many years. It does show the appeal the later stages of the competition has for a number of teams. The Junior Cup has many flaws but still the best attended non league cup final in Scotland.
