Simon didn't even make any attempt to move towards the ball, so this is complete bollocks.

However it's also irrelevant, because the referee didn't give offside. When he walked away from the monitor and made the VAR sign, he then stuck his arm out to the right. That is the sign referees make when they are giving a freekick for a foul. He did not put his arm directly in the air as referees do to signal offside, because he did not give offside. At no point was an offside being considered in the decision to disallow that goal.

This. Doesn’t give the ‘offside arm drawing a line in the air’ signal.

I think it probably is ‘offside’. But it’s given for a foul. So it’s a fucking disgrace of a decision.

What point are you even making here? A player doesn’t have to appeal for a decision in order for a ref to give it.

Hendry is in an offside position; VAR sends ref over to screen as it is a subjective call on whether Hendry impacted Simon’s ability to make a save. He thought it did and the goal was disallowed.

Hendry did not impede the goalkeeper.

And did he interfere? Absolutely not. Stop talking utter nonsense. The ball was fucking rocketed into the net before the keeper had a clue what was going on. Though do forget you have a habit of being contrarian for the sake of it.

Is Alan Hutton contrarian for the sake of it too? Look at the replay. He stops Simon coming for it.

There is no fucking way they cleared that as offside that quickly then asked the ref to come over to decide if he was interfering with play or not. Takes them ages to f**k about with those lines for milles offsides ones never mind something as marginal as that.

The. Ref. Gave. A. Foul!!

The free-kick was given because the ref felt Hendry impeded the keeper while in an offside position.

I believe the confusion caused is by the poor communication from UEFA.

If Hendry had been onside and the goal was disallowed purely for the foul then I’d agree it would have been an awful decision.

Any win qualifies us or a draw against norway

spain beat or draw with Norway we qualify

spain lose to norway and Cyprus we qualify if we get a draw

The simple facts are the referee signalled for a foul when he came back onto the pitch.

UEFA called it as a foul and publicly gave this information out.

They then changed their decision later on to indicate it was given for offside.

That's where the outrage lies. I don't think for a second Hendry was offside but even if he was, the sheer incompetence on display from everyone involved and lucking out on the correct decision is still a fucking farce.
