That's a plausible theory but the data doesn't really support this irreparable damage argument though:

The SNP voting intention did take a dunt in the spring but it has been tracking down a point or two since as well. It's in no way an unsalvageable position though for a competent leader - not comparable really to the hole that the Tories have been in south of the border.

Still think it needs to be resolved though - the sooner Murrell et al are charged (or not) the better.  Even if the damage isn't as bad as the Tories, the SNP need every vote they can get because it's clear now that Labour is their only opposition in Scotland.

Definitely feel it is a combination of issues but Yousaf needs to shoulder a lot of the blame in not dealing with those issues effectively - persevering with the GRA when he had a get-out to punt it down the road is one example.  Not binning the Greens or at least sidelining them is another.

Whoever did come in has a tough job - it certainly needs to be one of the younger candidates - as there is a whole generation of potential candidates  that are absolutely tainted by the Murrells.

As an "undecided", it seems you've decided.

As I've said before on here, the SNP warned us that things would turn to shit following a Brexit vote. Now that things have turned to shit, the pig ignorant are here to tell us that the SNP are directly to blame.

Their solution? Voting for one of the pro-brexit parties out of protest.

😂

Aye but they didn't tell us that it was them that were going to turn it to shit.

Aye, very good. The tories are doing great in England and Labour in Wales are clearly displaying all of the marvellous things they're going to accomplish in Westminster right enough.

Lisa Cameron was about to get deselected... so has jumped ship to the Tories instead.

It's totally farcical that MPs can still do this. By all means let them resign from their party but it has to trigger an election. You cannot just say "f**k you" to the electorate and retain your post for a party at the opposite end of the political spectrum. It's a nonsense regardless of who is defecting to whatever party.

She obviously isn't going to win East Kilbride as a Tory, but she's probably looking at standing for them next year, possibly in a different seat where keeping the deposit won't be an achievement, then getting into Holyrood on the list come 2026. That wasn't going to happen staying in the SNP.

She's always been on the right of the SNP and aligned with the Tories on social issues, so obviously she's not now/wasn't ever that arsed about independence.

The Tory vote is going to collapse in Scotland next year and I'm not sure that Lisa Cameron is the person to shore it up.

An Alba defection would have been better fun.

She's doing an Ahmed-Sheikh, but in a slightly different order and with the same chance of ever winning a seat again.

That's an incredible shift.

Egalitarian, social justice advocate and dedicated trade unionist joins Tories. She's in for a bit of a culture shock.

I am a member of the Scottish National Party, and was a trade union representative with Unite for 14 years. I have a long-held interest in social justice, inequality and issues of discrimination.

It is a bit of a leap to suddenly decide that you are a Tory because you feel that some of your SNP colleagues at Westminster have treated you a bit shabbily over the past few months.

She was either a plant from the get go, or is simply just looking to troll and cause as much damage to the SNP as possible.

As someone said above, joining Alba would have been the common sense decision if she genuinely wanted to depart because of genuine ideological differences.
