The_Kincardine
A general thread for women's football outwith Scotland. Mostly the WSL but we're a broad kirk. Arsenal were queens of the may on Wed with not only a great result but a top-tier performance vs Bayern Munich: Chelsea huffed and puffed but, frankly, were 2nd best and deserved to go out vs Lyon on Thursday. Last kick penalty and two saves from Berger sees them through:

Eednud
I enjoy watching Tasmanian Women’s Super League side Taroona’s home games on NPL TV. Not that they are very good as they are far from that. It’s the River Derwent in the background and occasional ship movements as they sit in the road’s there waiting on the pilot to take them to Riseon. This is yesterday’s home game v South Hobart, Taroona is a Hobart suburb further south than South Hobart. We are actually spoiled for women’s football as all Women’s A-League games are streamed live on Paramount+ and all state top league and a lot of lower league games are streamed live on NPL TV or YouTube.

Dirty Sanchez
That winning goal for Arsenal would have been a stick on to be disallowed by VAR.

Eednud
Watching Taroona again and they’ve at least scored but down 1-6 at HT against Devonport Strikers. This is their 4th game of the season and all have been at home. Results have been 0-5, 0-3, 0-9. ETA: They did a bit better in the second half going 1-7 with the 7th goal in added time. Forget the results. What about the views? BTW wasn't Clarence a cross-eyed lion rather than a zebra?

Some Tasmanian football history. Clarence United and Hobart Zebras amalgamated in 2019 to become Clarence Zebras. Hobart Zebras started out as Hobart Juventus and played in black and white stripes. Think there were occasional zebra sightings in Daktari though.
The_Kincardine
Leah Williamson hobbling off with - probably - a hammy is a shame for her and, maybe, for England in the WC. Great win for Man U. Probably between them and Chelsea for the WSL title now.

So many ACL injuries in women's football just now.

Shame for Williamson, too. She's improved even since the Euros and playing well for Arsenal.
Eednud
Taroona travelled up north to face Launceston United, losing 0-8. Aussies pronounce Launceston as lawn-cess-ton.

It looks SWPL standard.

So is this the top flight of Aussie football? It looks SWPL standard. Liberty A-League is level 1, Sydney FC defeated Western United 4-0 in the Grand Final on Sunday in front of a 9,519 crowd. The Tasmanian Women’s Super League is level 2 but the standard is lower than level 2 for most mainland states. Taroona travelled back to Launceston United on Saturday in the Statewide Cup Quarter Final only losing 0-2.
The_Kincardine
Not often I get things right re punditry but I did say Liverpool could take points off Man City and they did - with some style. Now a two-horse race with advantage Chelsea. I did wonder if they had the legs but 7-0 vs Everton says otherwise. Credit to Villa, though, for their demolition of Reading. Oor own Kirsty Hanson being in fine form and Rachel Daly having the season of her life. This was some game for her:
Eednud
Taroona managed 2 goals on Friday night but 5th placed, or second bottom if you prefer, Kingborough Lions scored 6.
Eednud
Taroona won their last game of the season 1-0 at home to Clarence Zebras. They finished bottom of the 6 teams after 20 games but did end up winning 3 and drawing 2, finishing 4 points behind the 2nd bottom.
