Ye Olde Hamiltonian
Think the guy with the “ We Reward Failure” flag will be getting it down from the loft after today’s leaking of the new 2 year deal for Hawditt & Dawditt. Suffice to say the news has had the opposite effect and put the fans on a right downer going into The Play Offs judging by comments and the general feeling of once again an Accies Board ignoring the wishes of the fans: those attending and those who have stopped going. Meet the New Board, same as the old Board vibes here.

bridge of allan bairn
Astounded at the new two year contract to Rankin and especially the timing of it. I genuinely thought it was a joke. Why not at least wait till after the play offs? If he got you up you could just about accept it. If he fails to get you up through the play offs he'll have taken you down, failed to get you up, and then been rewarded with another two year contract. Absolutely mind boggling stuff again from the accies board.

hammyaccies
I thought Serif might have taken the hint went the home support went from 1200 to 600 very quicky after losing to falkirk at home with some of the lowest crowds ever seen at NDP.The fans have no faith in Rankin and i would not be suprised if crowds get even lower next season with him in charge.
Ian Mcleod
In other news we officially know both games of the playoffs now after the conclusion of the championship Alloa VS Accies Montrose VS Inverness I'm glad it's Inverness who are the championship team and not Queens Park as I think Queens Park would have comfortably won against us and in the scenario that they had went down and Montrose/Alloa had won the playoffs i think Queens Park would have walked League 1 with some of the players and budget they've got at least in that scenario with Inverness they're struggling financially and will probably be in for a tough season next year if they go down. If both Accies and Inverness were to make the final then Jake Davidson won't be eligible to play I believe.

Even with the best squad in league 1 you will be no match for big Dunc

But to actually give him a ‘long-term’ contract is wild. That’s lost them my season ticket if we don’t go up, I’ll likely just go to some good away days but I’m not watching another full season of Rankball in this tinpot league. Had a season ticket for a long time but binned it for last season and never regretted it once.

Agree on the point about QP - saw them earlier in the season against Partick, and even though they lost 3-1 I was impressed by them. Inverness seem very lacklustre up top, they don't have a goalscorer like Ruairi Paton. On the other hand, Inverness away is a grim fixture. And I think we'll need to be much mentally stronger than we have been in crucial games this season where we've dropped points stupidly (Annan at home immediately springs to mind).

For starters we had a different manager and pretty different team, and as you say, in the second game ended up with 1 defender on the park, our current manager who was backup CB throughout the season. The rest of the defence was made up of strikers and attacking midfielders . To be honest we did well to keep it to 5, I thought at half time it could be double figures. But even though we were far from being a vintage team, I think we'd have gone through had we had anywhere near our normal side available for the second leg. And we'd have been pumped by Airdrie in the final. We're a much better team now and when it all clicks can be very good. There are weaknesses in there too though and there's also plenty of quality in that Accies team. They will rightly be favourites. Hopefully we turn up and give it a right good shot anyway, can't ask for more than that.
accies1874
Alloa not having Brian Rice as their manager automatically makes them better than they were last season. From the three times I've seen them this season, I'd say that they've been the better team against us over the piece. Rankin tends to get something out of the players on these big occasions (with the notable exception of the Falkirk games), but that's not always enough to succeed. Sometimes his starting tactics let him down like against Hearts in the cup last season, sometimes it's his in-game decisions like closing out the play-off v Airdrie, or sometimes ill-discipline like Kilday's tackle against Raith this season. I really liked what I saw of Alloa back in February, so I think our press is gonna need to be spot on in these games - it often isn't under Rankin.
Ian Mcleod
I think it's fair to say both Accies and Alloa have better teams than last season so how last year's playoff went is irrelevant and like a few of Alloa's fans have mentioned they had a injury crisis last season i can remember that they had to make an early sub and the guy they brought on ended up getting injured later in the game and had to be subbed back off. You could also argue that our keeper should have been sent off for their penalty which would have killed us being 0-3 down although it would have been 10 V 10. I think over the course of the season there hasn't been much between us and Alloa and going off the games against us they definitely deserved to have finished 3rd the overall score in the 4 games between us so far has been 4-3 us which shows that there hasn't been much in it 3 of the games been won by 1 goal and the other a draw. Rankin needs to get his team selection right in these games he often gives someone like a Redfren or Winter a start if he does this tomorrow then the fans are immediately going to be on his back. I would go with Jamie Smith Tumilty Owens Kilday Longridge (if fit) Martin Barjonas Williamson Smith Rose O'Hara Think it's almost certain that he will start Lyness and McGowan and Hendrie will start if Longridge can't play be interesting to see if he plays Davidson I personally wouldn't as like I've said already if us and Inverness make the final he would be unavailable.

Edit not to double post. I'm feeling the nerves just like I was last year although the mood in the camp is bouyant and the performance against Falkirk was a high standard even from the guys who haven't played often this season. I'm expecting similar in this game. Edited May 6 by LeodhasXD
