I thought the same but the warm up makes it look like this:

Rae
Ballantyne - Watson - ATS - Hancock
McCabe - McMaster
Megwa - Telfer - Frizzell
Todorov

You’re spot on. As much as we’re struggling McCabe will never play a defensive formation.

Looks a very negative lineup and a don’t lose the game starting 11, hopefully can stop this rot and get something today!

Well played Airdrie deserved the 3points,when manager is on his game he is one of the best in the league ,big shout to our keeper for that save ,Raith definitely struggling without passing and pace at times ,Think we would have taken a point before game ,all seems good ,

Huge improvement there. I think that first half is probably the most attacking we’ve been all season. The back five worked really well, allowed us to dominate the ball at the back and have Telfer and Frizzell running beyond Todorov, who won his fair share of headers and long balls. Fair play to McCabe for changing things and I thought he was excellent today too. We didn’t really miss Fordyce at all, McCabe strolled it and for times in the first half seemed to be in control of the full game.

Hancock’s injury is a blow. He’s had a good season and adds some pace to a fairly slow defence. He did well again today and as much as I admire the big man, ATS can’t play as a wider centre back in three given his remarkable lack of pace.

I’m not arsed at all about the midweek game, I’d happily play Cassidy, McStravick, McGill, O’Connor etc and give them some game time along with some of the regulars. We’re now five without a win but I think two pretty encouraging performances against the two best teams in the league.

Enjoyed the equaliser today as we didn't deserve to be losing. Some fine performances from all the guys especially Rhys and Frizzell after all the recent doubts.

Play like that and a wee bit more clinical/ composed over chances and we'll be fine.

Hope Hancock recovers. As for the B team nonsense I still want to win, but I'd rather do that to Arbroath.

Any update on Hancock?

It was obvious from the start that he was in bother and I hope he recovers quickly.

Impressed with Airdrie yesterday. Couldn't have felt too hard done by had the chance at the end went in.

Doesn’t sound to good from mccabes side said Hancock felt two cracks in his knee when he went down waiting to for a scan

Aiken out with a fracture in his Ankle aswell

Not good on both counts.

Hopefully they have a quick and full recovery.

All the best to your boy Hancock.

Decent game yesterday - ironic that both teams scored in the half they were second best in. Airdrie have been a breath of fresh air (both yesterday and the game at the Excelsior) after watching some of the agricultural tactics employed by many other teams in the league.

Really enjoyed that game yesterday. Said it about the first game between us but it felt like two good teams making a proper contest of it. The first-half in particular felt very open and end-to-end. Tailed off a little bit in the second-half (both teams looked leggy towards the end) but that was probably the best 90 minute performance we’ve put in the league so far this season. I know some folk were starting to get a bit twitchy but I’ve seen enough over the course of the season and the last three games (even the second-half v Inverness) to suggest that we’ll be absolutely fine. Could have won it with a bit more luck, that Dabrowski save was outrageous, and Gal was unlucky at the end (great header from Gabby to put the ball across btw). But I’d have been delighted with a point before the game and I’m happy with one now. Rae made a couple of cracking saves of his own TBF.

Have to say I was sceptical of the shape when I first saw the team lines. Don’t think a back 3/5 has ever previously worked for us under McCabe or Murray. But fair play, it got the best out of the team yesterday and I’m not sure Raith or Murray knew how to respond. McMaster was great (some of his touches to take the ball away from the opposition were first class), Telfer was good, that was probably McCabe‘s best performance of the season and Frizzell was back to his best. Best player on the park IMO. Him and Telfer linked well with Todorov and I thought that was his best game so far for us. Delighted for him to score (especially with that thug Iain Davidson being at the game) and the goal will hopefully do him a lot of good. Always nice to see him getting it round the opposition after he scored and when he got subbed off too.

Thought the defence were very good also. Think we’ve probably missed ATS more than we realised both at the back and going forward in terms of bringing the ball out of defence. I still think Fordyce is our best pure centre-half. But I’m not sure it was a coincide that the ball was was going forward a lot quicker without him playing. Hancock was playing well so it was a real shame to see him go off with what looked like a bad injury. I didn’t really see the incident but it certainly looked a bad one in the aftermath. I have heard he was up and walking after the game so it’s hopefully not as bad as we all initially feared. I think having to move players around afterwards threw us so maybe they don’t score if Hancock was still on the park (though it was a clever bit of play from Connolly and an effective mismatch between him and Smith v ATS and McCabe). Don’t think there’s a natural replacement for him in that shape so it’d be a shame if we’re forced to not use it again for a few games.

Gutted for young Murray Aiken. He’ll be a real loss whilst he’s out and we’ll miss his drive, athleticism and ball winning ability. All the best to him.

Good point yesterday and on to a big game next weekend v Arbroath. Got to win our home games and feels like an important one since they have a couple of games in hand over us.

Wonder if this is an indicator of the sort of side we’ll put on Tuesday? Can’t think why else the game would be moved unless there’s some rule or logistical reason that means both sides can’t play on the same day. Not as if there’s really any crossover between the teams.

I won’t be there but hope we body them all the same. A side with a mix of players like Cassidy and Dunlop and some of the first team players currently on the fringes like Gabby and O’Connor would be ideal and should suffice in terms of beating them.

The Arbroath game on Saturday is so important that I wouldn't be playing anyone who is likely to be playing on Saturday. We maybe don't have the squad for that without playing reserves but I'd be playing as few as possible.

Ever since they messed the tournament up with B sides etc I've had no interest in it, and if you look at recent seasons it's often teams who have poor league seasons that do quite well in it. Accies won it last year and got relegated, Raith lost in the final and finished 7th in the league. The year before Raith won it but their league form from Christmas onwards was the worst in the league. Queens lost in the final and got relegated. Going back pre-covid Dumbarton are another one who reached a final and got relegated. Even the last time we won it we got relegated, and losing finalists Ross County finished 8th.

Accies got relegated by 3 points last season, and Queens by 2 points (from 9th) the year before. I'd say it's pretty likely that having those extra 5 games and the distraction of a cup final cost them their league place. Accies lost 7-0 to Dundee 6 days after their win last season which is no coincidence.

Hopefully we'll be not be that close to the bottom anyway but it's hard to say at the moment and given that injuries are piling up and we don't have the biggest squad I don't think it's worth the investment. Staying up is all I'm interested in, the Scottish Cup is worth the investment because of the potential financial rewards that come with it, this is just a distraction in my opinion. If we can go far by playing a reserve side then great, although given the reserve results that's unlikely.

Spot on as defeat would drop us below Arbroath who would have 2 games in hand and another game without a win wouldn't be great for the confidence.

On another point I'm sure Rhys will now be looking at the next transfer window with Hancock and Aiken looking like long term injuries.
