scottsdad
These things get earlier every time. Candidates are announcing now, first Primary debate is in August. So..who will it be? The Donald? The Corpse of Joe Biden? DeSantis? Someone we've never heard of? Will there be any press conferences outside of garden maintenance companies?

Richey Edwards
Surely there's no fucking way that even America is stupid enough to elect Donald Trump again?
ICTChris
Trump is likely to emerge as the sensible Republican candidate - he has actually spoken about moderating the opposition to abortion, depending on his mood he doesn't go all in on the anti-woke agenda. Ron DeSantis' team went on an antivax attack line on Trump after he talked about the successes of Operation Warp Speed in producing vaccines early. He has a better political sense than DeSantis - Most people think that going on about wokeness is weird. Most Americans got the vaccine. It's interesting that the Republicans have reacted to Trump by going even more mental than him but it doesn't work because they are so weird. I think Biden will win again. Biden is cannier and has a better political sense than anyone else in the Democratic Party, he won an absolutely thumping victory in 2020 and he is the incumbent. His economic policies have stolen a lot of the Republican/populist clothes - he signed a massive stimulus package, has said he'll introduce 'Buy American' clauses into federal spending etc.
welshbairn
I just hope a better Dem candidate emerges than Harris and JFK junior in case Biden's heart goes pop, even after the election.
ICTChris
It’s RFK Jr. JFK Jr is dead, although QAnon people thought he was coming back at one point. RFK Jr is just for terminally online weirdos. Running on a platform of “this medicine that you wanted and protected you is like the Holocaust” is not great politics.

That’s the minor problem with hoping they won’t be that dumb. Trump has moved Left, not that his handlers or supporters will acknowledge that, but he has. DeSantis is trying to stake out the Reich-wing position, but is hampered by some others who have already positioned themselves in that neighbourhood. The more likely impediment to Trump 2024 is his legal issues. Is ‘Merica stupid enough, well…ask yourself, what do you think?

Theroadlesstravelled
Someone should run on the platform of banning OnlyFans and Tiktok. No one cares about anything else. It’ll be a landslide.
Wee-Bey
It's going to be a rolling car crash with the utter nick of those involved, the winner likely to be a sundowning 80 odd year old man with a high probability he soils himself in public at some point during his term. Debates will be funny though. All in on RFK Jr purely to see if the CIA start shitting themseves from something other than Havana Syndrome. Hopefully he survives the campaign. 1 hour ago, ICTChris said: RFK Jr is just for terminally online weirdos. Absolutely.
Zetterlund
Biden's mental and physical abilities have deteriorated so much, I genuinely don't see how he manages to get through the debates. The amount of protection he'll be given will be something to behold. At the end of the day, unless a real outsider like RFK Jr or (to a much lesser extent) Trump gets in, it really doesn't matter. The president is only there to get in front of the public, say the right things and throw them a few scraps to keep them from revolting while the real business of serving their corporate donors goes on largely unseen and unopposed.

BFTD
It's a bit like trying to guess next season's league tables at this point, isn't it? If the economy looks OK in a year or so's time, and/or there's a credible emergency that Joey B can send the military in to sort out, you'd think he'll be fine against Trump, DeSantis, or crippling dementia (it didn't hurt Reagan, after all). If not, it's four years of fighting woke abortion immigrants, with a side of increasingly less funny attempts to impose fascism. Fun.

He could scrape by in 2024 but would he last to 2028? The prospect of Kamala Harris should encourage everyone vote.
BillyAnchor
Trump to get serious prison time and win the election. How hilarious would it be, just when you think this nightmare of a country cannot sink any lower. All going well we will be back in Bonny Scotland before November.
