glensmad
Two trips into the unknown for us at the end of next month. 18th November - South Challenge Cup Round Four - away v Heriot-Watt University. 25th November - WoSFL Cup Round Three - away v Glasgow University. Following on from our first ever meeting with Campbeltown Pupils and two meetings with Penicuik Athletic who I don't think we'd ever played before this season, the cups are throwing up some interesting new places for us this season, which is refreshing.

glensmad
Another late winner for us, and this squad is really showing a bit of character. I've been saying for a few weeks that we've not been playing to our full potential, but that's 6 wins out of 7 games through a spell where I feel we have not played at our best, and that's encouraging. Three months into the season, that's 10 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats across all competitions. We're top of the league, and still in three cup competitions. I'll take that.

GAD
Really enjoyed the game today, first time I've been down this season. Two great goals and a team that try and play a bit as well. Hopefully a good season ahead!
glensmad
I said last week that we were winning games but not playing too great, but today we turned up. We had to, against a decent Premier Division outfit, but we were good value for our win and it could (should) have been a few more. That's three wins against higher tier opposition for us this season so far, and we get another stern test next week against Arthurlie. We'll have to be as good as we were today to have any hope of getting a positive result in that one.

glensmad
Well our dreams of a return to the Scottish Junior Cup Final are over for another year, but once again we gave as good as we got against a team from a higher tier which was encouraging and, although we didn't play anywhere near as well as we did against Troon last week, we gave Arthurlie a huge scare. At 3-1 down I thought it was drifting away from us, but Joe's triple substitution on the hour made an instant impact, and seven minutes later two of our subs had scored to bring it level. Dylan Collins then missed a sitter which would have put us ahead, but Sean McGuire getting his second yellow turned the momentum back in Arthurlie's favour and we were left hanging on for penalties, which unfortunately went against us. That football. Another couple of cup ties ahead for the rest of November, then we can get back to playing league matches. One league match in two months is not ideal, but thankfully we're still in 2nd place in the table with games in hand on the teams above and below us. And we play them all over December and January. Next up it's a couple of games against teams we've never played before, something different to look forward to.

Satori.
Great highlights. Arthurlie were the better team overall without playing anywhere near their best. Glens keeper had a howler for our first goal but thereafter had some excellent stops to keep the score down. He can also belt that ball up the park and Glencairn used that to get in behind our defence on a number of occasions. At 3-1 Arthurlie should have been more than capable of holding on to that lead but poor defending let the Glens back into it. With respect i thought Glencairn had a couple of really good lads but the rest were stuffy, workmanlike players, who kept plugging away and nearly caused an upset.

At 3-1 I also expected Arthurlie to see out the game comfortably, but I think that became Arthurlie's problem as they thought the job was done. On the hour Joe Pryce made a triple change and brought on the fresh legs of two 20 year old and a 22 year old, taking off three experienced players. It made an instant impact as the injection of pace and a bit of something different up front really troubled the Arthurlie back line and Bryan Wharton in particular. If Dylan Collins had smashed his shot into the net at 3-3 instead of skying it over the bar then I don't think we'd have looked back. But he didn't, and the rest is history.
glensmad
Seven changes to the starting team today from the two Scottish Junior Cup ties in the past couple of weeks, giving some of the squad players much-needed game time. Taking that into consideration, it wasn't a surprise that our first half performance was disjointed and sloppy. The second half was much better and we never really looked like losing it after we went ahead for the second time. Cup football secured for February onwards, and it's good to be in the last 16 of the South Region Challenge Cup as we've not really made any impact on this competition before. Hopefully next week we can get through to the last 16 of the WoSFL Cup as well, before looking forward to two months of league matches. We're still in third place despite only playing one league match in two months, so it's encouraging that we haven't dropped off the pace.
glensmad
Another comfortable win in a cup game sees us into the last 16 of the WoSFL Cup, and our run of 7 cup ties in 8 weeks over October and November has come to an end. Only the penalty shoot-out defeat to Arthurlie has stopped a perfect record over the two months. Today's result was never in doubt from the moment we took the lead in the 9th minute, and it has been good to get lots of game time into several players' legs over the past two weeks, while resting regular starting players like Law, Fitzpatrick, Maguire, McGuire, McKay and McManus. We look forward to more cup action in February, but now our concentration is fully on the league for two months. We've predictably slipped down to fourth place due to only playing one league match in two months, but we're still only 3 points off the top with multiple games in hand over the teams above us, and we play them all over December and January. Lots to play for.
glensmad
A hugely disappointing result and performance from us today, a chance to go 2nd blown and instead we slip down to 5th. One up at half time and looking fairly comfortable, we just collapsed after the non-awarding of what should have been a red card to a Renfrew defender. A few minutes later it was bang bang and suddenly we were behind and never recovered. Two big home games now, weather permitting, v Drumchapel United and Kilwinning Rangers. Good opportunities to bounce back. But we'll need to play better than the second half today.

glensmad
That was a really good game between two good sides today, and a draw was just about right in the end. Glens dominated the first half and the early part of the second and we should have been further ahead, but Drumchapel had a very strong bench and made a few tactical tweaks, and their substitutes all made a big impact. Drum dominated the final quarter and we were hanging on for the draw at the end. Peasy lost and Blantyre and Kilwinning also drew, so we haven't lost any ground on the teams above us, although Shotts, Ashfield and Johnstone Burgh have closed up below us. Lots of teams will fancy their chances of going up, and not just the teams who are spending big money.

glensmad
Two teams playing good attacking football in a good spirit, both going for the win right to the end. No yellow cards in a game which was refereed excellently by Barry Cook. A draw was a fair outcome but both teams were probably disappointed at the outcome as it was an opportunity missed with the other teams in the top five all failing to win. glensmad
Glencairn have signed striker Adam Cummings (19) on loan from Pollok until the end of the season. Adam has scored 32 goals so far this season for Pollok's u20s team and has now signed and extended deal with Pollok for next season.
