Wouldn't that have been called for obstruction? There wasn't a foul, the offence was offside, so all he was doing was interfering with play by being in an offside position and in the path of the defender.

Imagine having been signed for a 9 or high 8 figure sum, in a team of guys the same, and knowing you're at risk of losing a cup final to an improvised team of foetuses. Fear is poison in a football team.

He was in an offside position and intentionally blocked the run of the Chelsea defender to get to the ball.

It’s incredibly harsh and unlikely given pre-VAR. But that will be the justification.
