That was utterly.ridiculous 🤣

Must be almost 5 minutes on that

It's getting beyond absurd now. The lads in the VAR box seem to be completely oblivious that there's a game on and that people are waiting. Fucking awful.

Surely there can't be anyone left who actually likes VAR.

The only lines they showed did suggest that Bailey was offside, but I'm not sure why VAR then kept watching the goal for another two minutes before disallowing it for an offence they had already identified.

I was for it previously and still for it in theory, but the referees and football authorities seem incapable of using it competently.

Get it binned.

Between shite that and the commentary now leaning towards "its just SO important that VAR gets it right" it seems like a decision has been made to make a big show of how thorough it all is. Someone has decided that the cost in terms of the flow of the game is worth it, and they have sacrificed it at the altar of "never question VAR"

Yeah, its totally moved away from the mission statement of correcting clear and obvious errors in favour of whatever this version is.

Football is far too subjective for the level of scrutiny they look at all these incidents (offside is obviosuly a bit different).

If anything, they seem to be using it in a more disruptive manner than ever before rather than getting more streamlined.

You also see that barely any of the Villa players celebrate. It's getting increasingly hard to trust a goal in real time and that's the entire fucking point of the game, to celebrate a goal.

I know that the lines get projected across the pitch using calibrated pictures, but that one in particular where the defender was lying down.... How the f**k does he click somewhere in that 2d image as the closest point to goal. It's margins that can't be defined, whilst trying to pretend the decision is being made to the millimetre. Just absolute nonsense

They can place candidate lines before the final one, as a way of determining which body part is closest to the goal.
