Lochee United & Culter don't have the easiest draws, but it could have been worse for both, should be good games. I'm looking forward to the trip to Broxburn. Carnoustie & Loch Ness both have much weaker opposition in this round should they reach it. Fort William & Tayport will both be up against it with very tough draws. Golspie should have a decent chance but they face a very long journey all the way down to Hawick.

I just realised I never put the results of the extra preliminary round in here. So here are all "northern" results so far, both northern clubs lost in the first preliminary round.

First preliminary round:
Carnoustie Panmure 1-2 Beith
Luncarty 3-1 Loch Ness

Second preliminary round:
Broxburn Athletic 3-0 Lochee United
Culter 3-2 Blackburn United
Fort William 1-10 Clydebank
Hawick Royal Albert 1-2 Golspie Sutherland
Hill of Beath Hawthorn 0-1 Tayport

A mixed bag of results, Lochee United had the toughest draw and didn't manage to beat a strong Broxburn side. Culter & Tayport both had good wins against strong EOS sides, Golspie's long journey didn't harm them as they managed to beat hosts Hawick. Fort William meanwhile didn't carry their good league form into the cup and got a hammering form Clydebank. Culter, Golspie & Tayport will join the 18 Highland League clubs in the first round.

Love the fact that teams that have a) one game all season and have lost their manager and b) are sitting 8th in the second tier of the EOS league are being described as "strong EOS sides".

I mean strong in comparison to their northern opposition. I'd personally say that the standard in the EOS First Division is generally higher than the North Premiership.

First Round draw:
Clachnacuddin v Inverurie Loco Works
Formartine United
v Threave Rovers
Gala Fairydean Rovers v Strathspey Thistle
Wick Academy
v Jeanfield Swifts
Lossiemouth v Beith
Caledonian Braves v Fraserburgh
Banks o' Dee v Dalbeattie Star
Turriff United v Sauchie
Golspie Sutherland v Forres Mechanics
Culter v Deveronvale
Tayport v Buckie Thistle
Brechin City v Rothes
East Stirlingshire v Huntly
Keith v Luncarty
Broxburn Athletic v Nairn County
Brora Rangers
v Berwick Rangers

Already 5 northern clubs guaranteed to make it through, 3 all HL-ties with Forres Mechanics & Buckie Thistle visiting tier 6 opposition. You'd expect Formartine & Banks o'Dee to make it through, but some tough draws for other clubs.

Culter away, tough one for us,

Used to be better when you had to qualify to get into the Scottish cup.

Not sure about that, but you had a chance of winning a cup.

Beith fan here, wee trip to lossie for us , anyone shed any light on how good / bad they are

Hard to say, they drew against Brora the other week, followed by a defeat to bottom side Strathspey Thistle, and then a draw away to Banks o Dee with their plastic pitch home advantage. You'll be massive favourites for it at the bookies though.
