The only battle tonight is over whether to say it's a Wake Up Call, or a Reality Check.

Overused as these phrases are, they've got truth.  We were poor tonight, but we probably aren't as good as we were starting to think.  The midfield we've been raving about, were nowhere near it tonight when confronted by the real deal.

and that superior midfield on the night will invariably crumble when confronted with the actual real deal.

We've just watched the next European and very probably world champions here tonight and it isn't us. Didn't have kick all game. Only scored from and own goal. It could have been anything.

We'll qualify for the Euros and maybe make it out the groups but England are a million miles clear of us and of most other teams.

Have we f**k just witnessed “the next Euros winners”

We never even turned up tonight, and even if we did, England should still be absolutely whiping the floor with us. I’m not going in to our performance tonight, which was abysmal, you can’t judge that on where England are. There’s a good few teams better than them IMO.

Just saw this picture of the England end on Twitter. Unreal but not unpredictable.

I have worked with Rangers fans all my life and they all hate Scotland (sporting or otherwise) with a passion and back England any which way they can. I live in the West of Scotland, so I guess I am used to it. This isn’t much a surprise at all to me. Makes you embarrassed that these were the majority we lost the referendum to in 2014. An absolute minter.

I wish there were.

Back when England had their 'golden generation', they had a very very good team, but the English pundits were blind to the quality of the opposition.

Like Scholes (I think) said recently (and I paraphrase), "yeah we were good, but I was playing against the likes of Zidane and Xavi".

Germany are pretty meh, these days, so are Italy, so are Holland, so are Spain as we showed and Belgium have past their peak. France are the one big European team that seems to keep producing exceptional talent (and Portugal to a lesser extent).

England have as good a chance to win a major trophy in the next few tournaments as they've had in many a year.

Reasons to be fearful.

Which teams?

Argentina, France, not many others, I get we hate them but with a decent manager they could be very good. Way better than us.

We are performing at a very high level right now, when it matters. We just beat Spain at home and Norway away when it really mattered and as long as we perform as best we can we can't complain.

Just be glad Steve Clarke isn't managing England.
