Russell Brand - In Plain Sight

I think some men often get defensive around allegations like this because they feel uncomfortable about behaviour being called out that they recognise from themselves in the past.  Some people also genuinely hate victims, they feel contempt for them showing weakness.  Of course, as well lots of men also hate women or at the very least don't look at them as fully human.  I think that ties back to promiscuity and Brand's behaviour - one person in the documentary said that Brand would have sex with multiple different women every day and I don't think that you could really do that and behave that way and have anything approaching a normal attitude towards women.  Also, I saw this from a female comedian about Brand

That's a classic misogynist. I said earlier in the thread that people who base their lives and personalties around "pulling women" are generally OFTW and that's another pattern I've seen in men who are absolutely obsessed with pulling women for sex, the kind of disgust at women and the quick drop and inability to form lasting relationships, romantic, friendships or even professional, is similar.

One person familiar with the matter said Brand was “absolutely furious” at being targeted by Ryan. This person said other comedians may have also called out Brand, though this has not been confirmed by those who worked on the show. Two other sources said he demanded that producers protect him from being roasted by his fellow comedians.

The next bit makes it clearer if folk don't click on the tweet.

I thought the Wattoo guy had disappeared a while back, genuinely the first posts I've seen in ages, still some terrible, terrible takes though which is unsurprising.

Also don't know the back story of the hair sniffing, but it all sounds rather register-y.

Sean Lock was a fucking master of a comedian. The fact he had Brand's number from the start only elevates him higher in my estimations. RIP to a true comic genius.

Without coming across all Wattoo, I don’t think being promiscuous, having sex with multiple women daily, pulling women for sex or having an inability to form lasting relationships is anything close to a crime or even headline news. Clearly if the rape allegations are true then he has got what’s coming to him and that’s a completely different matter to what you’re discussing here, but loads of men and women the length and breadth of country go out every weekend with the hope of getting sex.

If there are rape and sexual abuse allegations then that is the story, everything else being discussed just sounds like salacious gossip and tabloid garbage.

It's a step up from mad shagger to picking up 16 year olds from the street when you're 30 and getting production staff to deliver young girls in the audience to your dressing room after a show. And using your status as 'the talent' to intimidate junior assistants into not complaining when you flash your cock. It's a bit like a teacher shagging pupils in terms of abuse of power.

Yeah, it's not a crime and going out with the hope of getting sex is perfectly normal.  I think just about everyone will have done that in their lives.

During the documentary his behaviour was described as having sex with multiple women every day, as being obsessed with sex and constantly looking for sexual opportunities, using his celebrity status to obtain it.  Again, I'm not saying that's a crime or should be a crime.  I'm saying that it's hard to imagine someone doing that and having any sort of respect or regard for women other than viewing them as sexual objects.  I think that ties into the allegations against him as well - if you read the details he clearly did what he wanted with the women interviewed to the extent that it went against their consent and became criminal.  If you don't look at women as anything other than sexual objects then that's an easy step to make.

Again, picking up 16 year olds from school as a 30 year old is extremely creepy but not a crime or headline news.

Aren’t teacher/pupil relationships illegal?

If you’re going to start putting people on the news for using their priveliged position to pull a woman then it’s a slippery slope and there would be nothing else on the news. Where do you stop? Having money? Being famous? Being handsome? Having a big cock? The list is endless of things that women are going to find attractive to them. If any woman chooses to go with a man for whatever legal reason then it’s a non-story. How is a famous person pulling a girl a story or an “abuse of power?”

Again, for the avoidance of doubt, the rape and sexual assault allegations are the story

He hasn’t been out in the news for doing those those things though, those behaviours form part of a pattern that included the serious crimes he’s accused of.

I haven’t seen the documentary and all I have seen on the 2 news pieces I have seen were essentially discussing his attitude to women. There was genuinely no mention of rape or sexual assault so I had to message people back home to ask why it was headline news. It was confusing AF.

Ah I just saw your location. The programme was mainly about the allegations of criminal conduct and the sections about his behaviour set the context. Put it this way, if the five women hadn’t given their accounts there wouldn’t have been a documentary.
