Not sure about the negative reactions here. Carlo Ancelotti kept him around at Everton, and then tried to take him to Real Madrid with him. If anything attests to his coaching and character it’s that. Granted it doesn’t mean he’ll be a good manager, but there’s some reason to be optimistic.

By all accounts, Forest Green were a shambles long before he arrived so not sure how much can be read into that.

A 51-year-old nutcase with absolutely zero managerial experience who has been hired entirely because his new boss is a blue nose.

The tabloids will absolutely lap it up but in no way is this a good appointment on paper.

However, things can’t get any worse for Caley right now and it’s not exactly the toughest league in the world so who knows?

Brown didn't do too bad at Fleetwood and him being at ICT will ensure that the Culloden Loyal and their ilk will never darken your door. A win-win IMO.

This aged well.

At least it will be bad news for burglars in whatever generic Inverness new build he moves into. I hope Rocco Quinn doesn't stay up this way any more.

He was well liked and respected at Everton. Why on earth he went to FGR only he’ll be able to answer. They were as good as gone before he took the job.

Certainly won’t be dull! Worth a punt anyway. Think it’s a wee bit harsh to suggest this is a John Brown / Brogan / McVeigh type appointment.

They had 18 games left and were only four points from safety when he took over.

He won one solitary game and managed to pick up a grand total of 6 points from a possible 54. They ended up SEVENTEEN points adrift at the bottom.

It is sheer nonsense for anyone to suggest they were already relegated or nobody could have done any better.

If someone was to go and hire Lennon then this would easily be the most exciting league in Europe before you even begin talking about what’s actually happening on the pitch.

If we can empty out some of the more beige characters like McCabe and Murray and get in the likes of Lennon or someone like Warnock or Holloway I don’t think there’d be another league worth watching.

Ferguson probably jumped ship because he didn't want to risk ruining his reputation at Goodison, in a similar way to Kenwright - although I fail to see how Ferguson could have managed to actually do that.

FGR were, and always have been, a total shambles of a club. Despite being environmentalists at their core, their stadium was sponsored by Innocent Drinks (the smoothies) - who had contributed to pollution of European Wetlands, and lied repeatedly about their environmental record. Although, that's a different subject.

FGR's shambolic season became infinitely worse under Ferguson. He's a better coach than manager.

Perhaps the championship is his level. Who knows.

There's a safe gaff on Duffy Drive with high walls that would suit him.

Got to assume he was hired purely because the chairman is a massive Sevconian.

His record at FGR was truly appalling. This appointment gives vibes of someone being hired for their status as a hard man to “fire a rocket up their arse” and shout and bawl at players, which somehow is still seen as a way to galvanise an already dejected group of players.

Stick your life savings on ICT going straight down.

And since he left they have won 2 games in 9 in the league below that.  Kind of shows you how shite the players he had was.

You are aware of the job he's taking?

Don’t fool yourself in thinking that his coaching ability was why he was at Everton so long.

“Blue Bill” Kenright kept him in a job at Everton, just like Unsworth etc etc… it’s about who you know and all that…
